Lamine Yamal recently became youngest player to make appearance for Spain

As reported by Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona have an unofficial deal with young prodigy Lamine Yamal and Jorge Mendes, his representative, who commit to the team for no fewer than the next seven years.

The 16-year-old has developed into one of football's most exciting talents after earning his debut for the team while still a teenager.

He broke the records for smallest goal scorer and appearance creator, both previously held by Barca colleague Gavi, before this past weekend when he played for Spain's senior national team over Georgia. He appeared and scored in a 7-1 blowout in a Euro 2024 qualifying match.

The Catalans did everything they could to successfully tie Gavi down until 2026 with new conditions that also included a €1 billion ($1.069 billion) release provision appended once the Andalusian appeared on the scene from La Masia and ultimately won the renowned Golden Boy award.

Lamine Yamal, unlike Gavi, had already turned 18 when he signed a contract with Barca, but the midfielder has similar goals.

Due to his advanced age, Lamine Yamal is only able to extend for a further three years.

However, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, Barca and the player's camp, which is run by super agent Jorge Mendes, have a gentleman's understanding to renew the contract for an additional five seasons, until 2030, after the player turns 18 in 2025.

Lamine Yamal will be protected in this way at least until the night before his 23rd birthday, and Barca will be hoping that AS reporter Javi Miguel's worries are unfounded.

There are also worries that the player might be driven into Los Blancos and break Barca's emotions in 2030 as Luis Figo did around the beginning of the century when he switched between the two enduring rivals due to the fact that his father is a Real Madrid supporter who waves the club's flag.

The winger could play a key role for La Roja once more when they host Cyprus on Tuesday night. If so, Lamine Yamal would have played in just one more competitive match to meet FIFA's requirement of three before being ineligible to play for another nation.
