Paul Pogba could face up to 4 years ban following positive doping test

A drug test following Juventus vs Udinese revealed elevated levels of testosterone.
Juventus and France midfielder Paul Pogba has been found in violation of doping regulations as a random drug test following Juventus’s 2-0 win against Udinese on 20th August revealed that he had more than natural levels of testosterone. The World Cup winner has been provisionally suspended from football, and has three days to produce a counter from his side to contest the allegations. If the allegations stand, he could face a ban from the game ranging between two to four years.
Pogba left Manchester United in 2021 to come back to Juventus after he had a lacklustre stay at Old Trafford. However, his second stint in the Serie A has not been up to his standards. Injury and inconsistent form saw him on the bench for majority of his first season. In this campaign, he has started in no games and has been subbed on in just two.
“In acceptance of the instance proposed by the National Anti-doping Prosecutor, it has provided for the provisional suspension of the athlete Paul Labile Pogba,” NADO Italia said in a statement. The tribunal said Pogba had violated anti-doping rules when they found the prohibited substance “non-endogenous testosterone metabolites”, adding that the results were “consistent with the exogenous origin of the target compounds”.
Pogba’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta has issued a statement after his provisional suspension stating. –
"We are waiting for the counter analysis and until then we can't say anything.
"The certain thing is that Paul Pogba never wanted to break the rules."
Pogba’s career has seen a rapid decline due to injuries and disclipnary issues. The midfielder who was once the most expensive transfer in football history when he came to United, now has a market value barely touching €12m.
