Premier League set to raise concern over Everton's potential sale to 777 Partners

Everton have been put on sale

At the teams' first leadership gathering of the coming season on Thursday, a number of Premier League owners will likely voice their reservations about the potential sale of Everton to 777 Partners.

While it is not on the conference's agenda, the topic is anticipated to be discussed informally at the summit of top-flight proprietors and managers in London.

The uncertainty around 777's funding for the £500 million agreement and the threat of unforeseen Premier League negative publicity are said to be the main concerns for the other clubs. This is because the firm is reportedly pursuing many legal battles in the US.

Since Everton and 777 have not yet disclosed the specifics of the transaction, the Premier League isn't going to be able to offer any advice to the teams on Thursday.

Acquisitions are prohibited because the Premier League is a members' organisation and most problems are determined by a vote of the clubs.

Two years ago, the Premier League approved the acquisition of Newcastle by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund against the opposition of many clubs, which resulted in a backlash from other clubs who felt they were not informed of the arrangement.

777 has not said how they plan to pay for their prospective acquisition of Everton.

777 intends to use its own money rather than obtaining it from other sources, according to sources close to the transaction, though taking into account that the investment business owns 60 firms, tracing the origins of the funds may be challenging.

The Premier League has quietly acknowledged that it might take months to finish the takeover's due diligence, which might cause Everton to run out of money before the season is over.

Discussions for the upcoming domestic TV rights auction, which, as Mail Sport revealed last week, will see the Premier League give networks a four-year agreement for the first time, are expected to take up the majority of the official session tomorrow.
