PSG rejected chance to sign Jude Bellingham last year

The English midfielder has been a sensation at Real Madrid

Paris St. Germain had a chance to sign Jude Bellingham last summer, but the French club had other ideas and bought someone else.

According to Le Parisien, one of the England international’s representatives reached out to PSG’s Luís Campos to ascertain Les Parisiens’ interest last year. 

PSG had other ideas and trusted their youth talent Warren Zaire-Emery. He is only 17 years old and got a taste of first-team football last season.

According to reports, Campos believed that he already had someone like Zaire-Emery, who could match Bellingham's calibre.

Jude Bellingham was at Borussia Dortmund last season and it was certain that he was on his move away from the German club in the recently concluded transfer window. Real Madrid came in with an offer of just more than €100 million for the Englishman.

The 20-year-old has settled well in his new squad. In the first four league games, Bellingham has scored five goals. He has won matches for his side and shown why he is rated so highly in world football.

Warren Zaire-Emery is still three years younger and has time to prove himself. He made 26 league appearances for the French champions and scored two goals. This season, Luis Enrique has given him five chances in the league already and Zaire-Emery has one assist to his name.

The 17-year-old also represented the France U-21 team during the September international break. He led his side and became the youngest player to lead the U-21 side in over 30 years.

PSG have made some big signings in the summer. They are eyeing the Champions League title and need their young talents to show up. Jude Bellingham has also settled well at his new club and is poised to achieve a lot with the Los Blancos.
