(Courtesy : AFC)
Mumbai City have suffered two back-to-back defeats in ACL
Mumbai City FC go down against Navbahor 3-0 in their second match of the AFC Champions League 2023/24. This loss has worsened The Islanders' position in the table as they now sit at the last position.
Des Buckingham's team started pretty well against the Uzbek side. They even got a golden opportunity to take the lead in the first half, but Greg Stewart messed it up. Navbahor however took their chances brilliantly and triumphed over Mumbai City FC.
Navbahor FC (By Keshava Verma)
Utkir Yusupov - 8.5
Was on point with his delivery, and made a number of routine saves to deny Mumbai from scoring. Utkir also saved Greg’s penalty at around the 40th minute mark.
Igor Golban - 7.5
Golban had a pretty decent night, as he was successful in neutralising the threat of Chhangte on the wings. The right back also made three interceptions and three clearances.
Filip Ivanovic - 7
Posed a problem for Mumbai’s attackers with his physicality and aggressiveness. Was a bit lackey at times, but other than that helped in keeping the defence compact.
Milos Milovic - 7
Milos left some gaps in the backline at times, and caused a few issues for his team. His performance however, was decent enough to keep a clean sheet for his side.
Yuldoshev - 6
Struggled for the majority of the game against Vikram, and even handed out a penalty via a silly handball.
Jovan Dokic - 7
Dokic provided support to the defense, and shielded the backline perfectly. The player played a number of accurate long balls, and assisted in the transitional plays.
Jamshid Boltaboev - 8
Boltaboev handled the midfield expertly, and ensured fluidity in the midfield. The midfielder played three key passes, and won a total of nine ground duels.
Jasurbek Yakhshiboev - 8
Had a pretty decent game in the right wing, and was a constant threat to Mumbai’s defense. Assisted the first goal and scored the second to guide his team to an important victory at home.
Jamshid Iskandarov - 8.5
Created the most chances for Navbahor, and also played two key passes. Jamshid also scored an incredible out of the box worldie, to break the dreadlock, and hand his side the victory.
Oston Urunov - 7
Despite not having a great game tonight, Oston made a major impact in the game by providing a wonderful assist to Jasurbek. Other than that, the winger struggled to make any decent opportunities for his side.
Toma Tabatadze - 6
The Georgian had a pretty quiet night, as he took zero shots and wasn’t at all effective in front of the goal. The forward failed to find spaces courtesy of an organised backline by Mumbai City FC.
Substitutions
Temurkhuja Abdukholikov - 7.5
Temurkhuja did well to press Mumbai’s defense, and also forced some errors out of them at times. The 32 year old also provided a wonderful assist to Doniyor, for Navbahor’s third goal.
Asadbek Sobirjonov - 6
Came on in the 83rd minute, and didn’t have any major role to play.
Doniyor Abdumannopov - 8
Came on in the 83rd minute, and made a major impact by chipping the ball past Lachenpa, to seal the deal for his side.

Mumbai City FC (By Atawaris Warsi)
Phurba Lachenpa - 5
Lachenpa could have really done better to stop the second and third goal. Nothing he could do about the first one though. An overall bleak performance by the Mumbai City goalkeeper.
Mehtab Singh - 5
Navbahor's second goal highlighted his weakness near his box, as he was dribbled past by Urunov during the buildup. A game to forget for the Mumbai City FC defender.
Tiri - 6.5
He displayed strong defending in the first half, winning several aerial duels, executing excellent tackles, and maintaining calm composure throughout the match. But, the second half was one to forget for the skipper.
Rostyn Griffiths - 6.5
Griffiths delivered an excellent defensive performance in the first half. However, in the second half, Navbahor's performance proved to be too much for the Islanders' captain and defender.
Akash Mishra - 6.5
It wasn't a good match for the Indian defender. He defended well in the first half, but the Navbahor defenders brilliantly thwarted his attacking pace.
Vikram Pratap - 6
He had some moments in the game that led to the Islanders' attack, including earning Mumbai City FC a penalty when his cross was blocked by the Navbahor defender's hand. Vikram was subbed off by Bipin Singh in the 68th minute.
Yoell Van Nieff - 7
He remained calm and composed throughout both halves, although he could have improved his performance later in the game.
Greg Stewart - 6
Stewart missed a golden opportunity in the first half when Yusupov saved his penalty. Apart from that, he had a good game.
Lalengmawia - 7
While none of the Mumbai City FC players stood out in the game, if one had to be chosen, it would be Apuia. He displayed impeccable calmness, physicality, and movement on and off the ball.
Lallianzuala Chhangte - 6
He didn't pose a significant threat to the Navbahor defence and goalkeeper. Chhangte was substituted by El Khayati in the 58th minute
Jorge Pereyra Diaz - 6
The striker remained silent throughout the match. While he applied pressure effectively to the Navbahor defence, he couldn't fulfil his role as a forward. Received a yellow in the second half.
Substitutions
El Khayati - 6
There wasn't much he could have done coming off the bench, as his team was already 2 goals down. He tried his best, but it was to no avail.
Bipin Singh - 5.5
Replaced Vikram Pratap Singh in the 68th minute, but had no impact whatsoever in the game.
Gurkirat Singh - 5
Nothing much to highlight about his game as he came on too late in the match.
