AFC nominates AIFF for prestigious President Recognition Award in Grassroots Football
Other nominees for the category are Brunei, Iran, and Syria
AFC has nominated the AIFF for the President Recognition Awards in grassroots football in the bronze category. This nomination comes after AIFF's quality work towards the development of grassroots-level football.
Last year, the Asian Football Confederation Executive Committee ratified the AFC Technical Committee's approval to change the categories of the AFC President Recognition Awards for Grassroots Football to Gold, Silver, and Bronze, so as to acknowledge standout Member Associations (MAs) in the AFC Grassroots Charter.
The enhancements underscore the significance of the AFC Grassroots Charter, which has played a pivotal role in driving the swift growth of grassroots football across the continent. Moreover, it continues to serve as a guiding framework for Member Associations (MAs) to sustain their efforts in nurturing the sport at the grassroots level.
Candidates for the AFC President Recognition Awards in Grassroots Football will undergo assessment, with their performance evaluated in various aspects. This assessment will consider factors such as the growth in the number of participants in Member Association (MA) activities, increased investment, advancements in special projects, new partnerships, and the incorporation of social responsibility into grassroots programs.
Furthermore, the evaluation process will also factor in the number of participants in grassroots competitions, the commitment of MAs to the AFC Grassroots Charter, cooperation with prominent clubs, initiatives to enhance grassroots facilities and equipment, as well as the engagement of grassroots ambassadors.
AIFF's exceptional work in the grassroots development area has not only elevated the quality of football at its grassroots, but it has also played a pivotal role in identifying and nurturing young talent, providing them with the opportunity to excel on a broader stage.
The President Recognition Award nomination is a well-deserved recognition of AIFF's tireless efforts in fostering the growth of the sport from its very roots, ensuring a promising future for football in India.
Other nominees for the President Recognition award are Brunei, Iran, and Syria. The winner will be announced on 31st October during the 2023 AFC Annual Awards in Doha.
