We've a balanced squad with great characters: Sajid Dhot
Sajid Dhot wants to win the I-League at Sreenidi Deccan FC this season.
Having represented the Indian National Football Team at almost every age group including a debut with the Senior Team at the SAFF Championship in 2018, it is easy to forget that Mohammad Sajid Dhot is still just 25 years old.
By footballing standards, he is yet to enter the peak of his career and the defender is settling in well at Sreenidi Deccan Football Club. "Since day one, everyone has made me so comfortable that I never felt like I was entering a new team," he said. "It’s more like a family."
After graduating from the AIFF Elite Academy, Sajid began his club career with erstwhile Pune-based I-League club DSK Shivajians before signing for Indian Super League side Odisha FC where he went on to make 25 appearances. Making the switch to Chennaiyin FC in 2022 where he played 9 matches, Sajid is focused on the road ahead with Sreenidi Deccan FC.
"It’s a new challenge for me. I feel we have a balanced squad with great characters," he said. "I will push myself and help my teammates to achieve our target of winning the I-League title this year."
In an age where the game has evolved to include ball-playing defenders and inverted full-backs, Sajid understands the need to keep up with the times and work on aspects of his game which the system requires.
"It's true that football is more advanced now. Everyone has to work a lot with and without the ball," he said. "We enjoy keeping the ball here at Sreenidi Deccan and that suits my game too."
