Individual brilliance & excellent skills were witnessed in the third week

Another game week of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24 concludes. The action in the past week had everyone on the edge of their seats. From a dominating display by the reigning ISL champions Mohun Bagan Super Giant to late drama in FC Goa’s emphatic win over Odisha FC, there was high-octane action across the board in the premier league competition of the country.

One constant across all fixtures was the key role played by individuals who made a difference for their respective teams. These players went above the call of duty to ensure their side came away with the best possible result from the fixture. Hence, the following players made Khel Now’s Team of the Week for GW 3 thanks to their outstanding performance.

Here is the Team of the Week for GW 3 of the Indian Super League 2023-24:

Formation (3-5-2)

GK - Rehenesh TP (Jamshedpur FC)

Jamshedpur FC showed defensive resilience and was the only team to keep a clean sheet in the past game week. Rehenesh TP was essential in the cause and made six saves to help JFC record a 1-0 win over Hyderabad FC.

RCB - Mourtada Fall (Odisha FC)

Mourtada Fall scored a brace in a losing cause for Odisha FC. The centre-back was unfortunate to be on the losing side as FC Goa snatched a late 3-2 win over the Kalinga Warriors.

CB - Melroy Assisi (Punjab FC)

Melroy Assisi became the first-ever Punjab FC player to score in the ISL playing at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. The defender showed incredible calmness to score from a corner and helped PFC put the first point on the board after securing a 1-1 draw.

LCB - Jay Gupta (FC Goa)

Jay Gupta was heroic in his performance for FC Goa against Odisha FC. It was his late strike deep into injury time that secured a fabulous 3-2 win for the Gaurs. The goal itself was one to savour as Gupta swivelled to make room for himself inside the box and hit the ball into the top left corner.

DM - Javi Hernandez (Bengaluru FC)

Javi Hernandez scored what is perhaps the contender for the goal of the season to help Bengaluru FC secure a 2-1 win over East Bengal FC. His overhead kick in the second half led to the winning goal for BFC, resulting in their first win of the season.

CM - Apuia (Mumbai City FC)

Apuia was sensational in midfield for Mumbai City FC and showed ambition while making late runs into the box. He scored the winning goal in a 2-1 win over Kerala Blasters FC putting his body on the line. His combination play with the forwards was also praiseworthy.

CM - Sahal Abdul Samad (Mohun Bagan SG)

Sahad Abdul Samad was simply magnificent for Mohun Bagan SG in their 3-1 away win over Chennaiyin FC. The midfielder provided two gorgeous assists in the game and looked unplayable on most occasions.
