Subroto Cup 2023: West Bengal, Mizoram, Assam, Punjab to meet in semi-finals
Minerva are representing CISCE in the Subroto Cup.
Manikpara High School, Jhargram will meet Chawngfianga Middle School, Saiden, Kulasib, Mizoram and Bampatner Bengenabari H.S.S, Sibsagar, Assam will face off against Minerva Public School, Mohali, Punjab in the semi-finals of the 62nd Subroto Cup International Football Tournament which will be played on Sunday, 8th October at the Army Services Corps Centre, Bengaluru.
In the first quarter-finals, Bampatner Bengenabari H.S.S, Sibsagar, Assam completed a dominating performance beating Strawberry Fields High School, Sector 26, Chandigarh 9-0. Rahan smashed in four goals while Dikshit scored a brace for the school from Assam. Dhan, Sanjib and Dibanu completed the scoring for the winners.
A last minute goal from Gibash secured the victory for Minerva Public School, Mohali, Punjab who are representing the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) in the second quarterfinal against N.N.M.H.S.S Chelembra, Malappuram, Kerala to qualify for the semi-finals.
Avhi Mahato’s brace helped Manikapra High School, Jhargram, West Bengal to qualify for the semi-finals beating Tashi Namgyal Academy, Gangtok in the third quarter-final.
In the last quarterfinal, Chawngfianga Middle School, Saiden, Kulasib, Mizoram edged H.K Singh Memorial Secondary School, West Jaintia Hills, Jowai, Meghalaya by a solitary goal to book their place in the semi-finals. Isak Lalmalsawma scored the crucial goal for the winners.
