Chelsea scouting goalkeepers Unai Simon & Giorgi Mamardashvili

Unai Simon is currently the No 1 choice in the goal for the Spanish National team
Scouts from Chelsea attended Sunday's 2-2 draw between Athletic Club and Valencia. Giorgi Mamardashvili and Unai Simon, the Blues' tandem of goalkeepers, were also in attendance.
After acquiring both Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic in the summer, the Blues are still searching for a new custodian, reported in September. Mamardashvili is their top permanent aim.
While watching the 23-year-old Valencia stopper over the weekend, Stamford Bridge officials are rumoured to have used the opportunity to make notes about Simon of the Athletic Club.
With Kepa Arrizabalaga's 2018 transfer to Chelsea, Simon, 26, took over as Athletic's starting custodian for Spain.
Chelsea are happy with Sanchez as their starting custodian and does not currently have any plans to sign a new stopper. However, although a January transfer for a new stopper is improbable, insiders have told 90min that it is also not officially ruled out.
In their quest for a long-term custodian, Chelsea are casting a broad net. Officials were additionally back in the represents to observe Porto's Diogo Costa play against Barcelona earlier this month. They were interested in signing the Portugal international this summer but ultimately decided to go with Sanchez, who was a cheaper option.
Jordan Pickford of Everton is being watched, and Chelsea are one of the teams keeping an eye on Aaron Ramsdale's circumstances at Arsenal.
Ramsdale is willing to battle for his spot at the Emirates after being benched in favour of David Raya, according to a September 90min. However, sources suggest that if he isn't included in Mikel Arteta's starting lineup going forward, his position may change in the upcoming months.
Meanwhile, Chelsea has added Leny Yoro of Lille and Valentin Barco of Boca Juniors to their list of targets as they continue to be eager to capture the best young players in the game.
