If Sheikh Jassim purchases the team from the Glazers, David Beckham is expected to make a stunning comeback to Manchester United in an ambassadorial capacity.

According to talkSPORT, if Sheikh Jassim, the Qatari banker competing with Sir Jim Ratcliffe to buy Manchester United, is successful in his buyout bid, Beckham will be given an ambassadorial position at Old Trafford.

With the release of Beckham on Netflix, the previous England captain's Man Utd career is suddenly under a new spotlight. Between 1992 and 2003, Beckham played for the first team for 11 years.

His link with Qatar began in 2013, though, when he accepted a brief deal with Paris Saint-Germain, which is controlled by QSI. The 48-year-old also attended the Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix on Sunday night and served as a representative for the Gulf nation for the 2022 World Cup.

David Beckham was questioned about the state of United during the Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix this past weekend.

He said: “We are one of the, if not the biggest club in the world. We want stability. I think that's the most important thing.

“We all have our favourites of who we feel needs to run the club and look after the club to take it back to where it belongs.”

Beckham continued: “In our eyes, in the fans eyes, we are number one. We want to be back at the top and I believe I know the right people to do that so we'll see!”

Given the assertions made by activists that the community there experiences discrimination and police brutality, Beckham received harsh criticism for his decision to take millions of pounds from the Qatari government.

"Once we were there we knew that there was going to be people that spoke about it a little bit more," Beckham said. "I've always said that should is a game that should be shared around the world.

"This was an opportunity for another nation and for the Arab world to get a World Cup to host one of the biggest sporting events in the world."
