FIFA set to pay £6.5m compensation to Al-hilal after Neymar's ACL injury
The Brazilain star suffered an ACL injury against Uruguay
The latest injury misery for Neymar may cost FIFA £6.5 million. After the new superstar of the Saudi team Al-Hilal was ruled out for the season, football officials may have to pay the club a sizable settlement.
During Tuesday's 2-0 loss to Uruguay in a World Cup qualifying match, Neymar was substituted with a torn ACL. The 31-year-old striker transferred from PSG to Al-Hilal in August and was paid almost £2.5 million per week.
From 28 days to a year, Fifa must pay an injured player's wage, up to a maximum of £6.5 million. That amount, meanwhile, pales in comparison to Neymar's total compensation from the Saudi Pro League's top teams.
With Al-Hilal, the legendary Barcelona player might make up to £314 million over the course of two years.
In a shocking setback for Brazil, Neymar tripped and sustained his most recent injury. Al-Hilal have all but given up on the idea that he will run again this term.
The medical exams Neymar reported the anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus rupture injury in his knee, according to a statement from the team.
However, Al-Hilal confused a lot of followers by announcing the bad news via a social media image of Neymar in anguish.
"He will be going through surgery and then a treatment program that will be determined later. Return stronger Neymar."
