Manchester City wants to make money off of Kalvin Phillips by taking advantage of the widespread interest in the player.

There are rumours that City will now demand roughly £50 million for Phillips. A deal that big would net City £8 million for a guy who hasn't really touched a ball since signing.

According to a source, one team, especially from Liverpool, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and West Ham, will have no qualms about paying the astounding fee Manchester City would demand for Kalvin Phillips.

The 27-year-old Phillips was acquired from Leeds United for £42 million in the summer of 2022. At the time, the holding midfielder was a consistent starter for England, and it was thought that he would compete with Rodri for starting spots in Man City's engine room.

But Phillips's Etihad career is still just moving in second gear. He has played on the pitch for just 760 minutes during his whole tenure with the team.

A January departure has been strongly suggested, most likely through a loan. The Mirror claims that Italian powerhouse Juventus, along with West Ham, Liverpool, Newcastle, and Aston Villa, are all involved.

In their piece, Phillips is likely going to St. James' Park next. They claim that out of all of Philips' potential suitors, Newcastle is the one that won't back down from paying £50 million for the player.

When the winter market begins, a loan move continues to appear to be the most likely scenario. Man City might, however, insist on having a £50 million buyout option or commitment.

"Phillips is now ready to move on in an attempt to protect his place in Gareth Southgate's squad for next summer's European Championships," the article's conclusion stated.
