Manchester United target Jarrad Branthwaite for January transfer

The injury to Martinez has forced United to look for a centre-back
The Daily Mail claims that Manchester United have been keeping an eye on Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite in order to improve the defence.
Before moving on to Everton in January 2020, Branthwaite started his playing life at Carlisle United, where he played 14 games. After a fruitful loan with PSV Eindhoven, the 21-year-old defender has witnessed his career prospects soar over the last several months.
Under the direction of former PSV coach Ruud van Nistelrooy, he appeared in 36 matches for them, and his remarkable performance enabled them to capture the KNVB Cup. The young player has now flourished after being given a chance by Sean Dyche's Everton squad, appearing a total of 19 times for the Merseysiders.
The only addition to the Red Devils' central defence this summer was the free-agent acquisition of Jonny Evans. We have observed how recent results have been affected by injuries by first-choice players Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane.
Luke Shaw and Lisandro Martinez are set to miss the action for a long period. In truth, the team has three left-back possibilities, but they are all now sidelined with injuries.
Branthwaite is a young star, but he has already built a name for himself. He has every reason to believe that, with the right manager, his performance will improve. He may just need a club like United for him to thrive.
It appears that Everton are going to have less negotiating power for Branthwaite as his contract nears expiration. It is hoped that United would make the young man an offer that will turn him around and make him desire to move here.
Tyrell Malacia, Sergio Reguilon, and Lisandro Martinez are all struggling with serious injuries, therefore United is in desperate need of a backup defence. Raphael Varane has also experienced fitness issues, giving Ten Hag few choices.
