Sandro Tonali will serve a 10-month ban from football after being found guilty of betting

Sandro Tonali, Newcastle United's midfielder, is expected to get a lengthy suspension from the sport, and it has been reported that Newcastle is considering suing AC Milan with a multi-million dollar litigation.

Tonali will miss the rest of the season due to a 10-month sentence for engaging in illicit betting on football.

Eddie Howe will have access to Tonali prior to their Champions League match at St. James' Park against Borussia Dortmund, as the ban is unlikely to be formally implemented until then. Any suspension only takes effect the day after it is announced.

Just over four months after he paid £52 million to transfer from AC Milan to the Premier League team, the startling news was revealed.

They are now furious with the Italian powerhouses for selling them a player who is now expected to miss the bulk of the season, and they are reportedly considering suing Milan, as reported by Corriere dello Sport.

The 23-year-old Italian midfielder's agency has asserted that the player is a gambling addict, and the player has acknowledged placing bets on his own teams to win games.

Eight months of counselling and involvement in anti-gambling activities are part of Tonali's punishment.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Newcastle is cancelling Tonali's €8 million (£7 million) salary; however, the team has not yet confirmed.

Nicolo Zaniolo of Aston Villa, Nicolo Fagioli of Juventus, and Tonali of Newcastle United were among those implicated in a Turin prosecutors' probe that caused a stir in Italian football.

A seven-month suspension was also given to Juventus midfielder Fagioli last week, although the organisation has agreed to pay his full salary and he will continue to practise with the first squad.

The 22-year-old, who cooperated with authorities and acknowledged his guilt, was able to obtain a substantial reduction in the standard minimum punishment of a three-year suspension for similar acts.
