Spanish giants Sevilla have joined the race to sign Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood at the end of the 2023-24 season. The forward is currently on loan at Getafe in the LaLiga.

The Mirror has reported that the Europa League 2022-23 winners have plans to bring in the English forward, whose contract expires in 2025.

The young talent is currently on a £75,000-a-week deal with Manchester United that runs until June 2025. According to reports by Mail Online, Sevilla might face competition from Getafe in securing Greenwood’s permanent move to the Madrid-based club.

SunSport reported that Greenwood is hoping to stay at Getafe for the foreseeable future, saying: “The players and fans have all given him a welcome he could only have dreamed of.

“He really feared his career was over. Now he’s just so happy and  wants to carry on playing and not think too far ahead."

The Red Devils decided in August that Greenwood would not represent the club again after concluding an investigation into the events that led to his arrest in January 2022.

Mason Greenwood has made five appearances this season, scoring once and providing one assist, and it is understood that he would be open to joining Getafe permanently next summer.

Greenwood is said to have settled well in Spain since his arrival last month, but a successful 2023-24 campaign will likely lead to high-profile clubs from other leagues expressing an interest.

The 22-year-old forward has made 83 appearances in the Premier League for the Red Devils and scored 22 goals in the English top division. Greenwood also made 28 appearances in Europe, with 10 coming in the Champions League.
