Tottenham Hotspur keeping eye on Jota's situation at Al-Ittihad
Al-Ittihad are yet to register Jota
According to 90min, Tottenham Hotspur are one of many teams keeping an eye on the position of Portuguese winger Jota.
The 24-year-old transferred from Celtic to Saudi Pro League champion Al Ittihad for £25 million back in July. He has not, however, signed up to participate in the upcoming season.
A resolution is being discussed between Al Ittihad and Jota, with the forward wishing to be freed from the agreement and explore a quick return to Europe.
Tottenham might be keen on exploring a contract if Jota is permitted to depart on the open market. The Portuguese forward is eager to move to north London, where Ange Postecoglou wants to take him. He was the one to sign him when he first took over at Celtic.
Al Ittihad may finally decide to keep Jota for the time being and then sell him during the January transfer window.
When Jota was kicked out of the Al Ittihad squad, 90min reported that Tottenham was considering making a move for him. However, they ultimately decided to sign Brennan Johnson for £45 million from Nottingham Forest.
Compared to some of Tottenham's inside attackers, Johnson and Jota belong to the speedy and elusive touchline forwards who better fit Postecoglou's favoured system.
However, the former Celtic player is not only coveted by Spurs; his old club Celtic is also interested in getting him home to Parkhead.
Brentford, Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham, and West Ham United are all Premier League teams that are maintaining a close watch on the scandal as well, but he would eventually want to reunite with Postecoglou, giving Tottenham the advantage in the race.
The forward scored 28 goals and had 26 assists in 83 games for Celtic throughout the course of his two seasons playing for Postecoglou.
