Gokulam Kerala displayed a far better performance than their previous game.

After a disappointing defeat in the first game to Urawa Red Diamonds of Japan, Gokulam Kerala managed to salvage a 1-1 draw against Hualien FC of Chinese Tapei in the AFC Women’s Club Championship 2023 group stage match held at Chonburi Stadium.

The opening goal of the match was scored by Sumati Kumari of Gokulam Kerala in the 18th minute, allowing them to take an early lead. However, in the 42nd minute, Lin Jing-xuan of Hualien FC found the back of the net, equalising the score. This proved to be the final goal of the game.

In the 62nd minute, Jhuo Li-Shan of the Chinese Taipei team was shown a red card, posing a setback for their squad. Nevertheless, Gokulam Kerala were unable to capitalize on this advantage and failed to secure a goal to find their first win in the championship.

Gokulam Kerala FC

Kritina Devi – 6.5

As like the first match, Kritina tirelessly controlled the defensive line and made some crucial clearances also.

Dhurga Perumal – 6.5

Dhurga’s performance was characterized by a lack of precision in her tackling attempts, and she also struggled to maintain possession of the ball at times. Her overall performance appeared to be somewhat untidy.

Roja Devi – 7

Roja exhibited notable progress in her gameplay, surpassing her performance in the previous match. She executed crucial clearances and demonstrated tactical proficiency in her passing.

Phoeby Owiti – 6.5

Phoeby exhibited exceptional performance in the midfield. She demonstrated remarkable defensive skills by making significant interceptions, while also displaying her ability to create numerous scoring opportunities for Gokulam Kerala.

Dangmei Grace – 6

Dangmei’s performance today fell short of expectations. She struggled to knit passes and crosses effectively, and lacked the assertiveness needed to penetrate the defence and create scoring opportunities.

Veronica Appiah – 6.5

Appiah consistently maintained possession of the ball throughout the match, and her performance improved notably in the second half. She executed some impressive maneuvers in the midfield while in control of the ball.

Shilky Devi – 6.5

Shilky once again had a subpar game. The player’s performance could have been enhanced if she had exerted more effort in the midfield to generate scoring opportunities for her team.

Sandhiya Ranganathan – 6.5

Sandhiya demonstrated exceptional ball control and remarkable precision in her passes. Furthermore, she showcased her proficiency by delivering exquisite crosses, which missed the last touch to find the net.

Sumati Kumari – 7

Sumati was the lone scorer for Gokulam Kerala and inspired the team to a better outing after a disappointing loss three days back.

Hajar Dabbaghi – 5.5

Hajar did not pose a significant threat to the opposition and demonstrated a lack of agility on the field. She was unable to keep up with the opposition’s pace in the midfield.
