Ratings: Appiah hat-trick powers Gokulam Kerala to win

Bangkok WFC scored three goals

Sree Gokulam Kerala Women’s FC found their first win in the AFC Women’s Club Championship 2023 group stage match after defeating Bangkok FC with 4-3 goals at the Chonburi Stadium, Chonburi.

At the commencement of the match, Plychompoo Somnuek from Bangkok FC managed to secure the first goal in the 24th minute, which was subsequently equalized by Hajar Dabbaghi in the 44th minute. However, just prior to the conclusion of the first half, Bangkok FC once again took the lead with a goal from Kanyanat Chetthabutr in the 45+2 minute of gameplay.

In the latter part of the match, Veronica Appiah of Kerala managed to score the second equalizer. However, the Bangkok team swiftly regained the lead in the 51st minute thanks to a goal by Kanyanat Chetthabutr. Undeterred, Gokulam Kerala FC responded with an aggressive attacking approach. In the 79th and 81st minutes, Veronica Appiah once again found the back of the net, securing two more goals and ultimately clinching victory for her team.

Ntiwaa Nketa – 7

Ntiwaa showcased exceptional saves during the latter half of the match when Bangkok FC initiated their offensive play following Gokulam Kerala women’s fourth goal.

Dhurga Perumal – 6.5

Dhurga appeared to struggle with the defensive game during offensive attacks initially, but showed improvement after a short period of time.

Roja Devi – 7

Roja Devi has shown remarkable improvement in her performance since the first match. She played with unwavering strength and determination, acting as an impenetrable barrier for the Gokulam Kerala team.

Phoeby Okech Owiti – 6.5

Phoebe exhibited exceptional brilliance in the midfield, showcasing her proficiency in making effective passes, but her defensive skills were often lacking.

Grace Dangmei – 7.5

Grace has proven to be an exceptional mentor for the women on the field, particularly in today’s match, where she consistently generated opportunities for her team.

Veronica Appiah – 8

Veronica achieved a remarkable feat by scoring three goals for her team, consequently leading them to secure their inaugural victory in the championship.

Shubhangi Singh – 6.5

Shubhnagi had a successful day in the midfield, demonstrating her ability to deliver precise crosses and play with a fiercely competitive approach in midfield.

Shilky Devi Hemam – 7

Shilky Devi has displayed exceptional performance in the last two games, exhibiting great determination and effort throughout. However, despite her tireless running and efforts today, she was unable to convert any of the opportunities into goals.

Sandhiya Ranganathan – 6.5

Sandhiya displayed a lack of sporting enthusiasm on certain occasions and performed less effectively compared to other players in the forward line.

Sumati Kumari – 7

The scorer of the previous match also had an outstanding performance today, delivering exquisite crosses at times.

Hajar Dabbaghi – 7

Hajar’s performance in the previous two matches was less than satisfactory. However, she managed to improve her gameplay and also contributed by scoring the first goal for Kerala.

Substitute 

Soumya Guguloth – 7

Soumya joined the game at the beginning of the second half and immediately displayed a highly assertive style of play right from the first minute.

Kritina Devi Thounaojam – 6

Kritina was substituted for Roja Devi in the 59th minute of the match. However, she occasionally displayed an ineffective approach in the midfield and also experienced instances of losing possession.
