The fixture is set to be first national level football match in Uttar Pradesh
I-league debutants Inter Kashi have had a terrific start to the 2023-24 season. The Varanasi based side have played four games in which they have won two, drew one and lost one. They currently find themselves in the fifth spot of the table.
The I-league debutants will host table toppers Mohammedan SC in their sixth game of the season on Tuesday. Ahead of their game, Inter Kashi’s head coach Carlos Santamarina addressed the media.
Jackichand Singh’s performance
Former Indian international Jackichand Singh has found his mojo at Inter Kashi. Speaking about his performances the head coach said that he is doing a great job and he is an important member of the squad.
“Jacki is doing a great job. He is working very hard and we are happy with his performances. He is an important member of the team and I hope he can give us a lot of good moments this season,” he asserted.
Journey in the I-league
It is Inter Kashi’s first ever season in the I-league. When asked about the journey so far in the league, the head coach said that it has not been easy, but the team is happy with its performances.
“It has not been easy because we have played four away games. But, you saw that we are fighting all the time and I hope in our first home game, we can continue to do far. Everyone is excited and happy with our performances so far,” he said.
First home game
Inter Kashi’s clash against Mohammedan SC will not just be Inter Kashi’s first ever home game, but will also be the first ever national football match in Uttar Pradesh. Sharing his thoughts on the same, the head coach said, “We are excited because it is our first home game at our home. It is also the first national and professional game in Uttar Pradesh. I hope we can give a good show for everybody and win the game and continue in the same way,”
Thoughts ahead of the game
The Spaniard also share his thoughts ahead of the game and said that there is no pressure on his team and his team will try to win the game.
“No, there is no pressure for us. I always say that we take it game by game and day by day. Each game is different. It is a marathon and not a short competition. We are trying to win every game and now we are thinking about tomorrow’s game,” he quipped.
Thoughts on Mohammedan SC
Carolos Santamarina was quizzed about his thoughts on table topper Mohammedan SC. he said that they have a good team with good players and his team is ready to play against them.
“We have to study them. They have a good team, good players and a good coach. They have a clear idea about how they play, but we are ready to play against them. We face all the teams in the same way and try to play as per our model and style,” he concluded.
