I-League 2023-24: Team of the Week for GW 7

Plenty of goals were observed in gameweek 7.

The I-League witnessed remarkable performances during the seventh week of competition. As we embark on the eighth week, the upcoming fixtures promise to captivate fans even further, as every team strives to give their best and secure triumph in their respective matches.

At the end of the seventh week of competition, Sreenidi Deccan surged ahead in the points table and currently occupies the top position with an impressive record of five victories from seven matches. Meanwhile, Mohammedan SC holds the second spot with a commendable tally of 16 points from six matches, secured through five notable wins.

Rajasthan and TRAU are placed at the bottom with four and one point respectively from seven matches. 

Let us look at the players who have made it to the team of the week after their impressive performances in the seventh week of play. 

GK – Devansh Dabas (Gokulam Kerala)

Devnash displayed exceptional reflexes during the match, greatly contributing to the Gokulam Kerala side’s success in effectively defending against crucial shots by the Churchill Brothers.

RB – Laldanmawia (Aizawl FC)

The 19-year-old Laldanmawia displayed exceptional performance throughout the match, making several critical tackles, particularly in the second half, which greatly contributed to Aizawl FC’s ability to secure a draw against Rajasthan FC.

CB – Carlos Lomba (Real Kashmir)

Carlos was issued a yellow card during the match, but that did not deter the defender from executing vital tackles whenever Inter Kashi FC launched their attacks. Impressively, he even managed to score a goal for his team in the 66th minute.

CB – Balwinder Singh (NEROCA)

Balwinder played a pivotal role in assisting NEROCA in securing a vital victory against Delhi FC. His unwavering determination and tenacity on the defensive front were truly remarkable and caught the attention of all spectators during the match.

LB – Jagdeep Singh (Sreenidi Deccan)

Jagdeep is demonstrating commendable performance during his stint with the Sreenidi Deccan. He impressively scored the second goal in the match by unleashing a powerful shot from outside the box, leaving the goalkeeper helpless as the ball found its way into the back of the net.

RM – Mohammad Inam Wani (Real Kashmir)

Inam demonstrated his exceptional skills on the field during the match against Inter Kashi. Not only did he score a goal, but he also effectively controlled the midfield area, making well-timed runs forward in order to create scoring opportunities.

CM – Tangva Ragui (NEROCA)

AM – David Castaneda Munoz (Sreenidi Deccan)

CM – Richard Costa (Churchill Brothers)

LM – Sergio Barboza (Delhi FC)

Barboza managed to score two consecutive goals towards the end of the game in an attempt to secure a draw for his team. However, despite his efforts, his team was unable to recover and ultimately suffered a defeat by one more goal.

ST – Lalrinzuala Lalbiaknia (Aizawl FC)

Lalrinzuala has undoubtedly displayed remarkable performance as a key player for Aizawl FC this year. Once again, he showcased his exceptional skills in their recent match, scoring two goals and asserting his dominance over the course of the game.
