Churchill Brothers announce departure of head coach Edgardo Malvestiti
Edgardo Malvestiti started his career as the youth coach of Newell’s Old Boys.
In a surprising turn of events, Churchill Brothers FC has officially announced the departure of their head coach, Edgardo Malvestitti. The announcement came earlier today by the club, citing a mutual agreement between the management and the Argentine coach.
Malvestitti, who took charge of the Goan club in 2023 had a mixed tenure with Churchill Brothers FC. During his time at the club, the team experienced highs and lows, showcasing moments of brilliance on the field but also facing challenges that hindered consistent success. Under Malvestitti’s prowess of 10 games, Churchill won 3 games, drew 3, and lost 4 matches.
Churchill Brothers FC, in their post, expressed gratitude for Malvestitti’s contributions and efforts during his term. The club acknowledged his commitment and hard work in shaping the team.
Malvestiti kick-started his football career as a forward, outstandingly playing for Newell’s Old Boys, which happens to be Lionel Messi’s former club in Rosario. After his days as a player, he transitioned to coaching and took up the role of youth coach with Newell’s Old Boys in 1996.
Following this, he extended his coaching expertise at various clubs in Argentina, Bolivia, El Salvador, and Peru.
In recent years, Edgardo made a return to Newell’s Old Boys, where he took the position of assistant manager. During this period, he also served as the Head Coach at Central Cordoba. Before his tenure with the Red Machines, Malvestiti held his last coaching position at the Peruvian club Academia Deportiva Cantolao.
Churchill Brothers FC is currently competing in the I-League, and the timing of this announcement adds an extra layer of complexity to the team’s ongoing season. The interim coaching staff will be responsible for steering the ship in the short term, while the club works diligently to secure a permanent replacement.
Churchill Brothers are currently in 10th position in the ongoing I-league and would have to appoint a new manager to take them to a better position.
