Kerala Women’s League to kick off in December

The Kerala Women’s League will comprise seven teams in this edition.
The Kerala Football Association has confirmed that the 2023-24 Kerala Women’s League is set to begin from December. The campaign will kick off on December 5, at the Thrissur Municipal Corporation Stadium in Thrissur.
The association has confirmed that seven teams will be participating in the upcoming campaign of the KWL. This is a decrease from the 10 teams which played in the 2022-23 season, a campaign which was won by Lords FA. They will be defending their title against a menacing Gokulam Kerala side, whom they were able to oust like time around.
Gokulam Kerala had actually won the league phase of the KWL last season, scoring a whopping 93 goals in nine games and winning all of their fixtures. However, Lords FA – who had scored 110 goals in nine league games last time around – ousted them in the final with a huge 5-2 win to clinch the fourth edition of the Kerala Women’s League.
It has been confirmed that the winners of the Kerala Women’s League will be promoted to the Indian Women’s League Second Division next season. With that being said, with Lords FA already playing in the 2023-24 IWL Second Division and Gokulam in the IWL, the team who finishes third will probably get that spot as long as neither of these two are relegated.
Kerala Premier League to begin in November
Football in Kerala keeps on growing across all levels, with the KPL also gaining more and more attention with each passing season. The Kerala Premier League will be kicking off on November 25 at the Kottappadi Stadium in Malappuram.
In contrast from the KWL, the KPL will see 20 teams participating, including Kerala Blasters and Gokulam Kerala reserves. The competition is set to run until about February and matches will take place every day with 4 PM and 7 PM kick-off times.
Kerala United FC are the defending champions of the Kerala Premier League after defeating Gokulam Kerala reserves in the final last time around.
