Manvir Singh misses India’s training, doubtful for Qatar tie
He scored the winner against Kuwait last week
After a marvelous victory against Kuwait last week, India are all set to host the Asian Champions Qatar at the Kalinga Stadium on Tuesday, the 21st of November for round 2 fixtures of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. India will be looking to do themselves good against a formidable Qatari side to further bolster their hopes for World Cup qualification.
But just a day prior to the big game, India have gotten a big blow, as their star attacker Manvir Singh missed the training session held on Monday. Whilst it is being suspected that the player is down with sickness, the actual reason for his absence is still unknown, as an official statement is yet to be made. Though, his availability for the vital clash is in doubts.
Impact of absence
Manvir’s recent heroics with the national team, as well as with Mohun Bagan has earned the player quite a name in Indian football. The 28 year old winger is best known for his great footwork and top notch finishing, and has a great striker’s instinct that is complemented with his incredible sense of the game.
Manvir already has two goals and two assists in four games for his club, whilst being a great force in the attacking third. Also, Manvir is starting to become a regular starter in the attack for India, and has impressed Igor Stimac with his recent performances.
In India’s previous game against Kuwait, Manvir came up with a clutch moment, as he scored an all important goal for the Blues with a brilliant first time finish, and helped them get a win in their opening game of the World Cup qualifiers.
With Manvir now sidelined with his suspected injury, his presence in tomorrow’s game is quite questionable, and India will have to find a solution as quickly as possible, if they want to get something from Tuesday’s showdown.
