The White Wolves are in the same group as India in AFC Asian Cup 2023.
The 2023 AFC Asian Cup is on the brink of its commencement, with less than a month to go for the start of the ultimate Asian footballing competition.
Nations from across the continent are gearing up for the prestigious tournament, that will be played in Qatar.
India are placed in a tough group that includes the likes of Uzbekistan, Australia and Syria, and have a task in their hands to go past three giants and book a spot in the knockouts.
While the Blue Tigers are yet to begin their preparations for the AFC Asian Cup, their other group opponents seem to be in full swing, and are giving in their all to enter into the competition, with their best possible preparation.
Uzbekistan brought a halt to their domestic league in early december, to allow the national team a decent time period for their training ahead of the competition. The Middle Eastern nation, which made their way to the semi-finals of the competition in 2011, are determined to turn heads in the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023.
Also, their recent triumph in the 2023 AFC U-20 Asian Cup, serves as a huge boost to the nation’s confidence, and is a testament of the sparkling footballing talent that lies in the nation.
Recent friendly against Kyrgyz
Ahead of the competition, the White Wolves played a warm up friendly against Kyrgyz Republic in Dubai, where they triumphed over the The White Falcons with a final scoreline of 4-1.
This win is a huge positive sign for Srečko Katanec’s men, and shows that they are moving in the right direction.
Lack of preparation – a concerning matter for the Blues
At a time, where the domestic league in India (Indian Super League) is still being played, and the national team players are yet to enter into the national camp, such sophisticated preparation by their rivals is a really concerning matter.
Igor Stimac had in advance expressed his discontent with such little time for preparation.
“I was very clear that if you give me time, I might show results, but without the time, don’t ask about results. I will go there with pride to represent India with our boys, but 12-13 days are nothing to prepare for the Asian Cup.”
