Interim Bengaluru FC boss Renedy Singh believes that the Chennaiyin FC game is an opportunity for the side to prove themselves.
In the aftermath of Simon Grayson’s dismissal following a tough defeat against Mumbai City, Bengaluru FC face a critical juncture. Stepping into this challenge, the interim head coach, Renedy Singh, and the resilient custodian Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, addressed the media ahead of their clash against Chennaiyin FC. Both of them were seen shedding light on the team’s mindset and aspirations for the upcoming game.
Immediate goals and plans
Renedy Singh emphasized the short-term focus, stating, “In the short term, we have two days to prepare. We’ve worked on our structure and shape, and tomorrow we’ll be ready to face Chennai. Our focus is on unity and fighting as a team, not just as individuals. I’m confident our players will give their all.”
Gurpreet Singh Sandhu added his perspective, highlighting the need for patience and waiting for the moment to turn things around. He said, “Having experienced similar situations before, my role is to ensure the team stays focused. It’s about patiently waiting for that spark to turn things around.”
Team morale and unity
Both Renedy Singh and Gurpreet Singh Sandhu stressed the importance of unity and resilience within the team. Gurpreet stated, “We feel the need to give more and await that turning point. As a senior member, it’s crucial to keep the team focused. We’re waiting for that spark, that regeneration, to get back on track.”
Renedy Singh echoed the sentiment by emphasizing the need for unity and teamwork. “I want to see our players fight as a team, not just as individuals. It’s not about Indian or foreign players; it’s about putting the best XI ready to fight for the team, fans, and themselves.”
Chennai encounter – an Opportunity
Renedy Singh views the upcoming clash with Chennaiyin FC as an opportunity to prove themselves. He said, “Chennai is a chance for us to prove ourselves. After a tough loss, it’s about how we bounce back. We respect our opponents, but our focus is on our team and coming back stronger.”
Connecting with fans post match
Gurpreet Singh Sandhu acknowledged the unwavering support of the BFC fans, mentioning, “BFC fans stood by us even after a big loss, showing the true spirit of the club. It’s a moment of guilt for the players, but it’s also a reminder of the unwavering support. BFC is a family that doesn’t give up on anyone.”
Regarding his extended stay on the pitch after the previous match, the custodian said, “Staying on the pitch is our duty to the club and the fans. It’s about embracing whatever emotions they express, positive or negative. I wanted to show my friends in the stands that we feel what they feel and that we’re committed to overcoming this situation together.”
