Ratings: Pardo, Fall shine in goalless draw between East Bengal, Odisha FC

Odisha FC only had one shot on target today.
A right and nearby Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24 fixture between East Bengal FC & Odisha FC ends in a stalemate, and either teams fail to find the back of the net.
Both the sides created some great chances, but a splendid defensive display across the field combined with a lack of finishing quality, restricted either teams from scoring.
Here are the ratings from the game:
East Bengal FC (By Keshava Verma)
Prabhsukhan Gill – 6.5
Wasn’t tested as such, as Odisha registered only a single goal on target. Was convincing enough with his collections and distributions apiece.
Nishu Kumar – 7
Worked really hard on the flank, and made some decent runs throughout the game. Made four clearances as well.
Lalchungnunga – 6.5
Was solid in the back, and restricted a number of aerial balls with his great understanding of the game.
Maher Hijazi – 7
Made seven clearances, and was decisive in the backline for the home team. Kept the defense disciplined against a strong attacking side.
Mandar Rao Desai – 6.5
Struggled against the likes of Jerry and Jahouh down the right flank, but made good use of his experience to minimise the damage. Was subbed off in the 53rd minute.
Naorem Mahesh Singh – 7.5
Put in a tireless shift, and ensured quality in the middle of the park. Played in some great passes that opened up the play and had an illustrious game.
Borja Herrera – 6.5
Had a number of battles with Jahouh on the field, and seemed to struggle slightly against the Moroccon’s might at times. Lost his head on a couple of occasions, despite ensuring steady supply of accurate passes for the majority of the tie.
Jose Antonio Pardo – 8
Did an incredible job and guarded the backline perfectly for East Bengal. Made three clearances, two interceptions and two tackles.
Nandhakumar Sekar – 6
Was presented with some great opportunities, but failed to capitalise on them. Struggled with low confidence during the game, and was subbed off pretty early into the second 45.
Souvik Chakraborty – 7.5
Worked really hard, and was outstanding with his pressing. Despite not being effective in his forward play, he left no stones unturned with his efforts.
Cleiton Silva – 7.5
Dropped in deep and assisted East Bengal’s attacking play on a number of occasions. Couldn’t find the cutting edge to get his team the lead though.
Substitutions
Mohammad Rakip – 7.5
Made a decent contribution after coming on, and ensured stability in the back. Also assisted in some attacking plays.
Vishnu PV – 7.5
Was great in the wings, and added a lot more quality in East Bengal’s attacks.
Javier Siverio – N/A
Odisha FC (By Sonal Fernandes)
Amrinder Singh – 7
Had a very good start to the first half, collected in his area and did well with his distribution, especially with his long passes.
Amey Ganesh Ranawade – 7
Had a really good first half as he finished the first half completing 19 of his 20 attempted passes and providing constant width to his side in the attacking half.
Mourtada Fall – 8
A towering presence in the heart of the defence for Odhisa and a calming presence on the ball completing 8 of his 10 long passes.
Carlos Delgado – 7
Won all of his aerial duels on a night when both defences were on top of their game.
Jerry Lalrinzuala – 6
Lucky to be on the field towards the end of the match as he escaped a second yellow but put in a shift at left back for his side constantly going up and down the field.
Lenny Rodrigues – 7
Astute defensively won all of his ground duels and was efficient in possession with a 94% pass accuracy.
Ahmed Jahouh – 8
A first half that saw him constantly man-marked, won all of his duels and completed all of his attempted dribbles. Continued similarly in the second half.
Lalthathanga Khawlhring – 6
A night on which he had a lot of running but struggled on the ball losing possession 13 times throughout the match.
Jerry Mawihmingthanga – 7
Provided his side with width but also drifted in from the wing to add a different dimension to the Odhisa attack.
Roy Krishna – 7
Constantly threatened the East Bengal with his movement, especially with his runs in behind and almost created a couple of opportunities for his side to score.
Isak Vanlalruatfela – 6
Looked slick in a few moments but far too wasteful on a night that required something special.
Substitutions
Diego Mauricio – 6
15 odd minutes of trying to get something out of nothing on a night when both defences were on top of their games.
Pranjal Bhumij – 6
Provided his side with much-needed fresh legs on the right wing for the closing moments of the match.
Aniket Jadhav – N/A
Not enough time to have an impact on the match.
