Both FC Goa and Mumbai City are still unbeaten in ISL 2023-24.

In a riveting encounter at the magnificent Fatorda Stadium, FC Goa and Mumbai City FC showcased a thrilling display of football prowess, ultimately settling for a draw. The clash, marked by intense competition, saw both teams fiercely vying for control on the pitch, yet neither could break the deadlock and secure a lead. The defensive prowess exhibited by both squads was commendable, leaving fans on the edge of their seats throughout the match.

Petr Kratky, Mumbai’s newly appointed head coach, marked his ISL managerial debut with a resilient performance, holding the league leaders to a stalemate. The first half saw FC Goa’s dominance, but Mumbai City FC surged back in the second half, resulting in a compelling contest that ended with both teams sharing the spoils. The splendid defensive efforts and strategic maneuvers on display showcased the high caliber of competition in the Indian Super League.

Another night as a stand-in captain, another night led by example. A strong performance at the back from Odei as he won all of his aerial duels. 

Sandesh Jhingan – 7

A solid performance from the India international. A well-deserved clean sheet. 

Jay Gupta – 8

The powerful left-back came up with another impressive performance, completing all of his attempted dribbles while winning all six of his contested ground duels. 

Raynier Fernandes – 6

A faultless night for the midfielder. 

Carl Mchugh – 8

A routine impressive night for Mchugh, who was always available to receive the ball and control the tempo of the game. 

Udanta Singh – 7

The pacy winger provided the home side with some much-needed pace and width in the first half. Udanta completed all his attempted dribbles. 

Victor Rodriguez – 7

The pick of the forwards in the first half, Victor boasted a pass accuracy of 100% and linked up well with his attacking partners, especially Noah Sadaoui. 

Boris Singh – 6

A night where he could have done better. Provided his side with width but could have done more in possession. 

Noah Sodaoui – 6

A night to forget for the star forward as he lost possession 15 times in his 82 minutes of stay.

Phurba Lachenpa – 6

The Islanders’ goalkeeper had a relatively quiet second half, with minimal action coming his way. In the first half, he faced a couple of shots, all of which he expertly managed to keep under control. His composure and effectiveness ensured a secure performance between the posts.

Rahul Bheke – 7

The captain delivered a commanding and robust performance, fortifying the right flank with unwavering strength. He successfully thwarted numerous attempts from FC Goa attackers, showcasing exceptional defensive prowess and leadership on the field.

Mehtab Singh – 7

Mehtab formed a commendable partnership with Rostyn Griffiths, displaying a synergistic connection on the field. His proactive approach was evident as he effectively neutralised the threat posed by Victor Rodriguez, showcasing both defensive prowess and strategic awareness.

Rostyn Griffiths – 8.5

Rostyn set a stellar example of intelligent defending, demonstrating that prowess on the field goes beyond physical strength. His commanding presence proved instrumental in outsmarting the FC Goa attackers, showcasing a blend of strategic thinking and defensive skill that left a lasting impact.

Akash Mishra – 7.5

The left-back emerged as a standout performer for Mumbai City FC. His electrifying runs down the left were a sheer delight to behold, and his crosses, delivered with impeccable timing and precision, hit their mark with pinpoint accuracy.

Vikram Partap Singh – 6.5

His precise crosses from the right flanks orchestrated a myriad of opportunities for Mumbai City. His impeccable runs not only showcased perfection but also strategically exploited the flanks, adding a dynamic edge to their gameplay. He was substituted in the 57th minute.

Vinit Rai – 6

Had a quiet game in the midfield. He was substituted after the first half.

El Khayati – 6

El Khayati dominated the Islanders’ midfield in the first half. However, a strategic substitution at the beginning of the second half saw Yoell van Nieff stepping in, bringing a fresh perspective and dynamic energy to the team.

Greg Stewart – 8

A true linchpin for Mumbai City, Stewart stood out as the most hard-working and astute player on the field. His knack for spotting runs, creating opportunities, and delivering pinpoint crosses was nothing short of invaluable gems. Not to be overshadowed, his defensive prowess is equally top-notch, making him a complete and indispensable asset to the team.

The young talent has unmistakably displayed the potential to take the reins of the Mumbai City midfield. Possessing all the attributes necessary for a top-tier midfielder, he showcased a promising blend of skill, vision, and composure on the field.

Jorge Pereyra Diaz – 6

He didn’t quite have the game he anticipated. There’s room for improvement in his positioning, and he could have been more actively engaged in the flow of the game.

Lallianzuala Chhangte – 7

His blistering pace and crosses gave Mumbai City the edge in the gameplay, but couldn’t help the team score. Had an excellent opportunity in the second half but couldn’t guide the ball past the goalkeeper.

Yoell van Nieff – 7

He brought some essential defensive stability to the Islanders in the second half, a component that was notably absent in the first half with El Khayati. His presence rectified the defensive vulnerabilities, offering a more resilient foundation to the team’s structure and contributing to a more balanced and secure performance in the latter stages of the game.
