Imperative to continue striving for further progress, asserts Sergio Lobera
Jerry Mawihmingthanga went all praise for the Odisha FC coach.
Odisha FC are going to take the field for the last time this year as they face Jamshedpur FC in their next fixture of Indian Super league on 29th December at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.
With a streak of seven consecutive victories under their belt, the Juggernauts aim to maintain their momentum in the upcoming game and conclude the year on a positive note before commencing preparations for the Kalinga Super Cup, scheduled for January 2024.
The pre-match press conference was graced by the presence of Odisha FC’s head coach, Sergio Lobera, and player Jerry Mawihmingthanga. They offered valuable insights into their preparations and emphasized their strategic approach for the upcoming game.
An improved Jamshedpur FC
Although Odisha FC defeated the Men of Steel in their last encounter, they have now become a much-improved side. They will take the field relying on their 5-0 victory against Hyderabad FC.
Coach Sergio Lobera said, “I think we are going to play against a team who has improved in the last few games. They are playing very well. I said it when we played against them last time, they deserve more points than they have on the table. And now they are getting points and I think it will be a tough game. They also have a balanced defensive and offensive attack.”
Team is still on improving note
When asked about the team’s brilliant performance this season, Sergio replied, “I am pleased with the significant improvements the team has made. However, it is imperative for us to continue striving for further progress. Despite having multiple opportunities to score in the recent games, we did not capitalize on them. It is crucial for us to maintain a balance, secure clean sheets, and make the most of our scoring opportunities.”
“I am content with the team’s current position, and I am proud of the diligent efforts put in by the players, especially considering the challenging schedule. As a coach, their performance makes me very proud”, he added.
Role of the coach
Coach Sergio Lobera has been the man behind Odisha FC’s clinical run this season. His masterstrokes have helped the club to build a dominating team. Jerry Mawihmingthanga also appreciated the coach’s effort as he said, “I think the coach gave us freedom, which is very important. So we can express our feelings and play how we want. He also provides us confidence which helps us to express ourselves on the ground.”
