Top five Premier League clubs with most goals in 2023

These sides lead the scoring charts in the English Premier League in 2023

Even though the Saudi Pro League and Major League Soccer tried to grab attention in 2023, the Premier League continues to be the most-watched football league across the globe. With world-class players finding a home here along with the influx of money even to the clubs that were previously mid-table bound has helped make the game more competitive.

This season, the treble winners, Manchester City are finding it hard to defend their league title. Clubs such as Tottenham, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal are above the Cityzens after matchday 18. Although Pep Guardiola’s men have a game in hand, the league is proving to be ever more competitive. It is no longer the case, that only, the Sky Blues side can pour in goals. We will have a look at the sides with most PL goals in 2023.

5. Tottenham – 74 goals

Rounding off our top five sides with the most goals in the English top flight in 2023, we have Tottenham Hotspurs. Amazingly they have scored an equal number of goals in 2023 across the two splits of 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons. Even though Spurs finished eighth last season, the side wasn’t lacking in goals.

From the 2022-23 season, the London-based side played 22 of its games in the year 2023. In those outings, with Harry Kane leading the lines, the side managed to score 37 league goals. This season Ange Postecoglou was given the managerial task and the club no longer had the services of mercurial forward Kane, still the goals have continued to pour in. After 18 league games in the ongoing season, the Lilywhites have managed another 37 goals.

4. Brighton – 78 goals

One of the surprising clubs in this ranking is Brighton. The Seagulls have been flying high in terms of performance on the field which has aligned with a lot of goals across 2023. At the helm of it has been the Italian coach named Roberto De Zerbi. Appointed in September 2022, the manager led his side to a top-six finish by the end of the 2022-23 season. This also meant a UEFA Europa League group stage ticket for the very first time in the club’s 122-year history.

In 2023, Brighton have scored 78 league goals. Out of which 34 have been scored in this ongoing season up to matchday 18.

3. Liverpool – 79 goals

Liverpool could only get the better of Brighton & Hove Albion because of their 37-goal haul leading up to matchday 18 of the 2023-24 season. They were trailing behind in number of goals in 2023 from the 2022-23 season.

The Reds continue to perform under long-standing manager Jürgen Klopp and his leadership. The Anfield hosts finished fifth last season and missed out on the UEFA Champions League qualifications. This season, they are seemingly battling for the Premier League crown. Mohamed Salah continues to be at the heart of goals, although the winger was tempted by a move to Saudi Arabia in the summer.

2. Arsenal – 84 goals

After hanging up football-playing boots while with Arsenal, Mikel Arteta served as an assistant manager to Pep Guardiola at Man City. Since December 2019, Arteta has been the manager of the Arsenal football team. And what a transition the club have had under him.

Last season alone, the Gunners almost took away the league title from Guardiola and Co., finishing second just 5 points behind. Out of the 84 goals in 2023 league games, 48 came in the previous season. At present, the North London outfit are leading the 2023-24 Premier League table with 40 points after 18 league games. In those 18 games, Arsenal managed to score 36 goals.

1. Manchester City – 90 goals

Just last Friday, the Cityzens lifted their fifth trophy of the year. It was a FIFA Club World Cup final triumph on their debut in the competition. The previous four include – FA Cup, Premier League, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup.

In the 2022-23 Premier League campaign, Man City came from behind in the final weeks to snatch away the league title from Arsenal. This includes 50 league goals from the season’s games played in 2023. Now, in this ongoing season, once again Pep Guardiola’s men remain the most potent attack force in English top-tier football. Even with a game in hand from the rest of the clubs on this list, after playing 17 league fixtures, the Sky Blues have already scored 40 goals.
