Our preparation for the upcoming match has been thorough: Kanan Priolkar on facing East Bengal
The Sethu FC coach says their objective is to secure all three points.
Sethu FC is scheduled to compete against East Bengal FC in their upcoming match of the Indian Women’s League (IWL) 2023-24 at the East Bengal Ground in Kolkata on December 23, 2023.
In the league, Sethu FC has played only one match against Gokulam Kerala FC, which concluded in a goalless draw. East Bengal, on the other hand, has competed in two matches, achieving a victory against Sports Odisha with a score of 2-0, and experiencing a defeat against Kickstart FC with a score of 1-3.
Ahead of the match against East Bengal, Sethu FC’s head Coach Kanan Priolkar and player Misha Bhandari came to attend the pre-match press conference.
Preparations for the match
Sethu FC had nearly ten days to prepare for their upcoming match. This extended preparation period is expected to positively impact the team’s performance against East Bengal. Coach Kanan Priolkar said, “We only played in a single match, and subsequently had a nearly 10-day gap to prepare. Our preparation for the upcoming second match has been thorough, benefiting from the additional time. We are eagerly anticipating the next match.”
“They played two matches. We observed their performances, and it is widely acknowledged that a home match presents a formidable challenge for the visiting team. Their displays have been duly noted, and we are fully prepared to proceed”, he added further.
Facing a strong opponent
No doubt, East Bengal will enter the field as the favourite team in the match. When questioned about confronting the team on the field, Misha Bhandari said, “We have dedicated a significant amount of effort over the past few weeks, as well as in the last couple of months and the preceding seasons.”
“They are a formidable team whom we hold in high regard. However, we are content with our thorough preparation, and we will approach the upcoming match with the objective of securing all three points”, Misha added at the end.
