Chelsea injury update ahead of Sheffield United clash

The Blues have a massive list of injured players
Chelsea manager Pochettino confirms Christopher Nkunku (26) will be in the squad to face Sheffield United tomorrow and is available now!
It isn’t raining until it pours when it involves Chelsea and injuries.
The loss to Everton on Sunday left supporters with more than a bad taste in their mouths as they saw further injuries to Marc Cucurella, Robert Sanchez, and Reece James affect an already thin squad.
If Chelsea weren’t already anticipating the debuts of Romeo Lavia and Christopher Nkunku, who have not seen any action since arriving in the summer, that would be terrible enough.
Wesley Fofana and Ben Chilwell are among the long-term those who were absent on a 12-man injury list.
This is our most recent report on Chelsea’s injury news and anticipated return dates.
Chelsea injury update:
Reece James
James, the captain of Chelsea, was forced to leave the game at Goodison Park after just 27 minutes due to a hamstring problem, a continuation of his injury woes.
Although this is not the 24-year-old’s first hamstring issue, Standard Sport is aware that he is a serious question for the holiday season pending further examinations of his leg. He has undergone an assessment this week and beginning the rehabilitation programme
Possible date of return: December 2023, late.
Christopher Nkunku
Pochettino has made hints that Nkunku is getting closer to making his eagerly anticipated return from a preseason knee injury.
The French striker had several opportunities to make his debut since returning to full practice a few weeks ago, but the head coach of Chelsea has not given the go-ahead.
Possible date of return: December 16, against Sheffield United
Robert Sanchez
Sanchez was replaced at Everton due to a recurrence of a prior knee problem.
The problem was detected by the Spanish custodian during the match against Manchester United, and it worsened over the weekend, forcing Djordje Petrovic to enter the match in the second half. We’ll now evaluate him.
The date of potential return is unknown. He continues to undergo specialist assessment.
Romeo Lavia
Lavia, a Belgian midfielder, was similarly characterised to Nkunku when Pochettino reported on the two players last week.
December 16, versus Sheffield United, is one possible return date.
Marc Cucurella
Cucurella injured his ankle while playing, forcing Chelsea to replace him at Everton along with James and Sanchez. We’ll now evaluate him.
The date of potential return is unknown.
Lesley Ugochukwu
Ugochukwu was called into the midfield for the match against Newcastle, but he has been out of the next three due to a “minor injury”. It is unknown how long the summer acquisition will be out before returning to training. He is undergoing assessment and is due to meet with foot and ankle specialists to decide the next steps.
Possible date of return: January 2024.
Malo Gusto
After Chelsea announced last week that Gusto was beginning the “reconditioning phase” of his return, Pochettino suggested that Gusto might have made a comeback for Everton, even though the Frenchman was not expected to play.
Possible date of return: December 2023, late.
Ben Chilwell
Due to a hamstring injury, the left-back hasn’t played since September, but he returned to moderate exercise last week.
Possible date of return: January 2024

Wesley Fofana
Fofana’s ability to play this year was doubted following surgery for a significant knee injury in the summer, but he was able to begin running in October as he continued his arduous recuperation.
Possible date of return: 2024 spring/summer.
Chukwuemeka Carney
Chukwuemeka’s return to the Chelsea club was hampered by a setback in October following a knee injury; however, he should be ready later this month.
Possible date of return: late December 2023
Madueke Noni
After coming off the bench in Chelsea’s victory over Brighton, Pochettino said that Madueke had a “minor problem” that had forced him back to the sidelines.
The date for possible return is unclear.
