Inter Kashi sign versatile forward Gianni dos Santos

Gianni dos Santos joins the outfit from the Canadian Premier League.

I-League outfit Inter Kashi have announced the acquisition of Gianni dos Santos from Atletico Ottawa. The striker is the first signing made by the club in the ongoing January transfer window. 

The club based out of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, have added more firepower to their forward department which already consists of players like Sumeet Passi and Mario Barco of Spain.

Inter Kashi may be a new club but they house the ambition to win the ongoing season of the I-League and earn promotion into the Indian Super League for the 2024-25 season. While that dream may be distant, the outfit is showing a lot of promise after completing the move for Gianni dos Santos. The 25-year-old will hope to hit the ground running with his first foray into Asia and Indian football.

An exciting acquisition

Gianni dos Santos brings a lot of energy and pace considering his age. The 25-year-old loves to utilise his pace and catch defenders by surprise with his movement. Furthermore, he is a versatile attacker who can play both as a forward and as a winger, on either flank. 

Inter Kashi’s head coach, Carlos Santamarina, will certainly relish working with Gianni dos Santos who grew up playing youth football in Europe, the Netherlands to be precise. Signing a player who can play in almost every available position across the forward line has a lot of value.

Santamarina said on this inclusion, “We are delighted with Gianni’s signing, he adds quality to our attack and gives us another option to explore. I believe he will be an asset to the team and will help us achieve our goals.”

Inter Kashi currently sit eighth in the I-League points table. The outfit has won four games, drawn three and lost four from 11 matches and have 15 points in their kitty. The club will hope that Gianni dos Santos provides good support to Mario Barco, who leads the assists chart in the league with seven in nine appearances.
