After a short hiatus in the current season, Odisha FC are going to face Sethu FC in their upcoming match of the Indian Women’s League on January 5, 2024, at the Bhubaneswar Football Academy in Bhubaneswar.
Both teams have played two matches till now. Odisha FC emerged victorious in both matches, while Sethu FC secured a draw in one game and a win in the other.
Before the match against Sethu FC, Odisha FC coach Crispin Chettri appeared resolute during the pre-match press conference, offering comprehensive insights into their preparations for the impending game. Along with the coach, player Win Theingi Tun also attended the press conference. Excerpts are below:
Focus on the game
It is apparent that following a break, the team may require some time to regain the momentum that they had previously achieved. Coach Crispin Chettri confidently said, “The players are professional enough to be focused on what they have to do. They know their job and we have been positive in our training sessions also.”
Advantage of playing at home
The Odisha side will undoubtedly experience a boost while playing at home, with supporters rallying to cheer them on. When quizzed about the home advantage, the tactician replied, “When you play a home game, there is advantage and added pressure as well. And it’s on the attitude of players, how they will approach the game.”
When asked about the team’s preparation and their performance, Win Theingi Tun said, “Our team is a good team and every player is a good player. We maintain good communication amongst ourselves and just try to perform better.”
Injury concerns
Odisha FC might face some injury issues in the upcoming game. But the coach had a positive answer to it. He said, “I won’t say we don’t have injuries. We have certain injuries. We are waiting for the report to come back and see what happens next.
“But, it’s a long season, so there will be injury concerns. We can’t be worried about it. We focus on whoever is available for the next match. And I trust each and every player in the team,” he concluded.
