Jamshedpur FC and East Bengal FC are both vying for their first Super Cup title.

In the opening semi-final of the Kalinga Super Cup 2024, a soaring East Bengal will square off against the fairytale-knitting Jamshedpur FC at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

East Bengal, led by coach Carles Cuadrat, will face Jamshedpur FC with a strong sense of confidence following their triumph over bitter rivals Mohun Bagan in the Kolkata Derby last week. Conversely, since the departure of their former manager Scott Cooper, Jamshedpur FC have found their foot with Khalid Jamil’s tactical acumen.

After winning all three of their group-stage matches, both teams are at the top of their form. With unwavering intent and determination, they both pose a formidable threat to one another as they hope to bag their first Super Cup title.

With his deft dribbles and freedom of movement, the Brazilian forward will surely be the main player in this match. In the Kolkata Derby last week, Cleiton, a player who displays a prolific scoring ability from both inside and outside the 18-yard box, scored a brace against Mohun Bagan, their bitter rivals.

He has already scored four goals in this year’s Super Cup and will aim to add to his tally against Jamshedpur also.

The Men of Steel will be led by the exceptional Nigerian striker against East Bengal FC on January 24 in Bhubaneswar. Daniel Chima Chuku has already netted the ball home three times in this Super Cup. Chukwu was shown a red card and was unable to play against Shillong Lajong FC after a tackle on Leskovic during the last minutes of the match against Kerala Blasters FC.

Jamshedpur FC won the match 3-2, thanks to a brace from Chima’s stealth artillery. Carles Cuadrat’s team may be seriously threatened by Jamshedpur FC’s #99, a player who could end their hopes of winning the Super Cup.
