Cleiton, Jahouh headline Kalinga Super Cup 2024 team of the tournament
East Bengal lifted the Kalinga Super Cup 2024 title.
The fourth edition of the Kalinga Super Cup concluded with East Bengal FC emerging as the champions, securing a victory over Odisha FC with a score of 3-2 on January 28th at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.
This 21-day tournament, commencing on January 8th with a qualification match, featured a total of 28 matches, including the qualification fixture, and witnessed several captivating encounters. Throughout the tournament, a number of players seized the opportunity to demonstrate outstanding performances.
In this article we will take a look at the player who made it to the team of the tournament after the conclusion of Kalinga Super Cup 2024.
GK – Lalthuammawia Ralte (Odisha FC)
In the absence of Amrinder Singh, Mawia played all five matches for Odisha FC in the tournament. With three clean sheets and notable saves during the matches, he emerged as the outstanding goalkeeper of the tournament, ultimately receiving the award for the best goalkeeper of the Kalinga Super Cup.
RB – Amey Ranawade (Odisha FC)
Ranawade proved to be a standout player in Odisha FC’s defensive line. His exceptional performance was evident through his pivotal tackles and crucial clearances, mitigating potential threats to his team.
CB – Mourtada Fall (Odisha FC)
The center back not only proved to be a formidable presence in the backline but also demonstrated his ability to make occasional forays into the attacking third, culminating in two goals scored during the tournament.
CB – Hijazi Maher (East Bengal)
Hijazi played each and every match in the tournament for his team. His crucial contribution was the goal in the semifinal against Jamshedpur FC that helped to secure a final spot.
LB – Nishu Kumar (East Bengal)
Although Nishu did not play in the final match, he made a significant impact in the other four matches. The left back contributed two assists during the tournament, one against Sreenidi Deccan and the other against Jamshedpur FC.
RM – Isak Vanlalruatfela (Odisha FC)
With a goal and an assist complementing his outstanding performance in the tournament, Isak has earned a place on the team of the tournament. Additionally, he was honored with the player of the tournament award.
CM – Saul Crespo (East Bengal)
Crespo served as a key figure for East Bengal in the midfield, demonstrating his prowess by providing an assist in the match against Mohun Bagan and netting two goals during the tournament, including a crucial goal in the final.
CM – Ahmed Jahouh – (Odisha FC)
Odisha FC’s exceptional performance owes much to Jahouh. His timely runs and solid defensive play, complemented by his ability to advance and create opportunities upfront, were instrumental. Furthermore, his impressive tally of three goals and two assists in the tournament significantly contributed to the team’s success.
LM – Nandhakumar Sekar (East Bengal)
Nandakumar played a pivotal role in the left back position for East Bengal, demonstrating exceptional ability in creating scoring opportunities from the midfield and delivering precise crosses. Moreover, he contributed two goals during the tournament, including one in the final match.
CF – Dimitrios Diamantakos (Kerala Blasters)
Diamantakos emerged as the standout player for the Kerala team. Not only did he uphold the team’s performance in the forward position, but he also remarkably contributed with three goals and an assist throughout the tournament.
CF – Cleiton Silva (East Bengal)
The leading goal scorer of the tournament is unquestionably a key addition to the tournament’s all-star team. With five goals and an assist to his name, his notable contributions include a crucial goal during the final match.
