Kalinga Stadium has been consistent in hosting major international and domestic tournaments in the past few years.

With only two days left until the start of this year’s highly anticipated sports event in Odisha – the Kalinga Super Cup, Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar is preparing to deliver an exhilarating experience for football enthusiasts in attendance.

Notably, in recent years, Odisha has evolved into a prominent sports hub, garnering appreciation from athletes worldwide. Hosting such a prestigious event within their own domain is yet another feather to their cap.

Starting from the highest-ranked officials to the ground-level workers in the stadium, everyone is diligently focused in putting forth their utmost effort to ensure the success of the upcoming event in the next 20 days.

The Secretary of Sports and Youth Services in Odisha, Vineel Krishna, a staunch advocate for sports and a driving force behind the mission to elevate the sporting culture in the state, expressed his appreciation for the groundsmen at the Kalinga Stadium. He commended their exceptional work in preparing a splendid turf for the upcoming event through a tweet. He also uploaded a photo of the newly designed ground. He wrote, “Artwork by our talented groundsmen #Kalingastadium all set for Kalinga Super Cup – Top Football tournament in the country, with all ISL clubs and Finest 4 I-League clubs participating.”

A brief look at the 2024 Kalinga Super Cup 

The fourth edition of the Super Cup, more commonly referred to as the 2024 Kalinga Super Cup, is scheduled to commence on January 8th with the qualifying match featuring Inter Kashi and Rajasthan United.

The sixteen participating teams are divided into four groups. The tournament will witness 12 teams from the Indian Super League and four teams from the I-League, respectively.

Odisha FC are the defending champions of the tournament, who will be enjoying a home advantage in their matches. Considering their ongoing form, they are expected to dominate their games and also pose a significant threat to visiting teams.
