Looking for draw is like looking for loss, asserts Carles Cuadrat before the Kolkata Derby
Forward Cleiton Silva feels happy to be a part of the highly anticipated Kolkata Derby.
East Bengal FC is scheduled to compete against their arch rivals, Mohun Bagan Super Giant, in their upcoming match of the Kalinga Super Cup 2024 on the 19th of January at the Kalinga Stadium. Both teams have emerged victorious in their respective previous matches, and the outcome of this encounter will determine the leader of the table which will lead them to the semifinal round.
The pre-match press conference before the upcoming game was graced by East Bengal’s head coach, Carles Cuadrat and player Cleiton Silva. They elaborated on their preparations for the match and outlined their strategies for confronting the opposing team on the field.
Motivated to play the derby
Undoubtedly, the upcoming derby poses as one of the most compelling and demanding fixtures for East Bengal with fans eagerly anticipating the outcome.
“It’s going to be an interesting game. Both the teams will be very motivated to play the derby. And about the result, we will surely look to win the game as looking for a draw is like looking for a loss”, coach Carles Cuadrat in his opening statement regarding the match.
“As the coach said, it’s a big game for us and we will look to win it. I’m also happy to be part of this huge game”, Cleiton added.
Is East Bengal in a better position than Mohun Bagan?
Both teams are missing some key players who are on national duty, but Mohun Bagan has more absentees than East Bengal.
“We also have some players in the national team. But without putting any kind of justification of unavailability of players, I would say, we just have to play the game. We just have to remain involved in the game and look to perform well and then enter the semifinals after the next stage” Carles on question regarding the unavailability of players in the teams.
Playing the derby away from the home ground
Although the stadium is small as compared to the ones in Kolkata, the fans will definitely come in large numbers to support their teams in the derby.
On a question regarding the atmosphere in the stadium during the match Cleiton replied, “We know some fans will surely come to watch the game, as we know how much they love the game. And every game is different and every match we will have a different atmosphere also. We will just keep playing like we have been doing in the last couple of games.”
