These clubs topped the scoring charts in the Serie A League in 2023

Football is undeniably one of the most widely followed sports globally, captivating millions of fans who eagerly tune in each week to witness their beloved teams in action. Regarding elite football leagues, two prominent names instantly emerge: the Serie A and the Premier League. Both leagues boast a rich history, attracting some of the most exceptional players from across the globe and delivering exhilarating matches. 2023 marked a lot of newsworthy headlines for Serie A, with none more significant than Napoli winning their Serie A title in franchise history, and the first since 1990.

Besides the flurry of transfers, Serie A in 2023 proved to be a high-scoring year. These five teams found the net more often than not.

5. Atalanta – 64 Goals

Despite receiving less attention this season, Atalanta comfortably secured a spot in Europe after finishing eighth in the previous campaign. The additions of Ademola Lookman and Rasmus Hojlund, who took over from the struggling Luis Muriel and Duvan Zapata, proved successful. Their fifth-place finish is an achievement, and with a squad that is arguably transitioning smoothly, there is cause for optimism, especially after finishing with 64 goals.

4. AC Milan – 70 Goals

Given the circumstances, it was always going to be an impossible task to live up to the Scudetto, especially with the increasing number of injuries, the failure of new signings to settle, and the vast disparity between exiting Europe in the group stage and making it to the semifinals of the Champions League. While they experienced tremendous highs, such as the remarkable 4-0 victory over Napoli, they consistently struggled to overcome smaller clubs, resulting in the loss of crucial points.

Were it not for the penalty awarded to Juventus, the Rossoneri would have found themselves outside the top four. Nevertheless, with their progress in European competitions and growing online, especially at American online casinos, they are now transitioning from being unexpected title winners to a team that opponents study to neutralize their effectiveness – primarily having scored 70 goals.

3. Inter – 72 Goals

Inter secured both the Supercoppa and Coppa Italia, adding to their impressive trophy cabinet. Additionally, Inter reached the final of the Champions League, although they could not clinch the title. In Serie A, they finished in 3rd place, with a considerable 18-point gap behind the winners, Napoli. Inter experienced remarkable highs throughout the season, exemplified by their dominant 3-0 aggregate victory over Milan in the UCL semifinals.

However, they also faced challenging moments, including a six-game winless run in Serie A that made for disappointing viewing and had potential ramifications in the race for a top-four finish. Undoubtedly, it was a season filled with numerous ups and downs. The World Cup break and a total of 56 games certainly contributed to the demanding 2022/23 season schedule, but now it has finally come to a close with 72 goals.

2. Lazio – 74 Goals

Despite unexpected circumstances, Lazio secured a second-place finish in the league. This achievement resulted from their effective implementation of the ‘Sarrismo’ style of play and their ability to address any issues of inconsistency quickly. As a result, they were able to qualify for Europe’s top club competition once again and achieve their best Serie A finish since their Scudetto-winning campaign in 1999-2000. It is worth noting that Maurizio Sarri, despite facing competitors with higher transfer budgets and wage bills, managed to guide Lazio to a commendable second-place finish and 74 goals overall.

1. Napoli – 90 Goals

Napoli bulldozed through every obstacle to secure an unexpected and commanding third Scudetto. Despite facing setbacks due to the departures of captain Lorenzo Insigne, defensive stalwart Kalidou Koulibaly, and iconic forward Dries Mertens, the Partenopei were disregarded before the season even commenced. Nevertheless, coach Luciano Spalletti seamlessly integrated new signings Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Kim Min-jae, Giacomo Raspadori, and Giovanni Simeone into a cohesive team that clinched their first title in 33 years, exhibiting an enthralling, aesthetically pleasing style of play.
