The Spanish wonderkid has shattered records at all levels defining a remarkable 2023-24 season.

In a span of just few months, Lamine Yamal has transformed from a highly praised youth product with considerable potential to a legitimate star in LaLiga. He is the latest gem from the renowned La Masia academy in Barcelona. He has been following the footsteps of the legends that were made at La Masia and shined in front of the whole world of football. Nonetheless, he has developed into a completely different player since breaking into the Barcelona first squad.

The young player scored goals and provided assists for the squad this season. In the 2023–24 season, he also scored for the senior Spain national team. All of this has caused the public to expect and his manager to commend him. Let’s take a good look at the records broken by Lamine Yamal this season.

Records that Lamine Yamal has broken

1. Youngest LaLiga champion

In 2023, Lamine Yamal achieved a historic milestone by being the youngest player to win La Liga. As a member of the Barcelona team that won the league title, the 16-year-old winger broke the record previously held by Marc Muniesa (17 years and 51 days). He received the title of Breakthrough Player of the Season in La Liga. He has been making the difference ever since those winning days.

2. Youngest goal scorer in La Liga and for FC Barcelona

Lamine Yamal has been breaking records ever since he has been introduced to the footballing world. In October 2023, Barcelona was having difficulty facing Granada until the defence gave way under an off-balance Joao Felix, and the ball just fell into Yamal’s path at the back post. Even so, Yamal’s finish into an open net started Barca’s comeback, as they overcame a 2-0 deficit to secure a 2-2 draw. That time his age was just a tender 16 years, 87 days. With his tap-in, Yamal became the youngest goalscorer in La Liga and FC Barcelona history, surpassing the record held by Malaga’s Olinga and Barcelona’s Ansu Fati respectively.

3. Youngest LaLiga assist provider in the 21st century

Another La Liga broken by Lamine Yamal was by providing an assist in a much-needed win match for the Blaugrana. His first significant performance for the Blaugrana came in a 4-3 chaotic victory against Villarreal, when he picked up an assist. At 16 years and 45 days, he became the youngest goal-assistant in Liga history with that assist, which was a beautifully angled pass to the far post.

4. Youngest player to provide an assist in Champions League

Barcelona’s prodigy Lamine Yamal became the youngest starter in the competition for Barca and also set up Ferran to become the youngest assist provider in the UEFA Champions League, during a breathtaking display against Antwerp. This incredible accomplishment, which was previously held by Bojan, adds even more significance to Yamal’s expanding legacy. In addition to helping Barcelona win, the wonderkid etched his name in the history, creating a lasting impression by being the youngest assist-maker in the coveted tournament.

5. Youngest debutant for the Spanish national team

Yamal’s talent has been noticed by more than only Barcelona. The young player was probably going to be called up by the Spanish national team. Before his team’s Euro 2024 qualifying matches in September of 2023, Luis de la Fuente called Yamal into the squad. And even though he didn’t start the La Rojas’ game, he scored a goal after coming off the bench. At 16 years and 57 days, he surpassed his Barcelona colleague Gavi, who was the previous youngest debutant ever.

6. Youngest goal scorer for the Spanish national team

The teenager eventually had his chance to shine for Spain against Georgia, as was normally expected. Yamal’s first goal for his senior national team was far more beautiful than his first goal for the Blaugrana. The teenager’s finish was remarkably comparable to several goals scored by former right-wingers. He broke the record of Gavi once again. Moreover, Yamal broke yet another record with this goal, becoming the youngest player to score in the European Championship qualifying match.

7. Youngest player and goalscorer in the Spanish Super Cup

One of the major stories of 2023 was Lamine Yamal competing in the Spanish Super Cup at such a young age. The number 27 was the one who broke the 21st-century record when he entered the pitch in the 43rd minute of the Super Cup semi-final at the Al-Awal Park stadium against Osasuna. He broke the record of ex-Barca wonder boy Ansu Fati who was 17 years and 70 days old. Lamine became the competition’s youngest goalscorer also, with his late-game strike to make it 2-0 against the opponents.

8. Youngest goalscorer this century in Copa Del Rey

Lamine Yamal has become the youngest footballer of the 21st century to score a goal in the Copa del Rey. The wonderkid from Barça made his competitive debut with the first team against Athletic Bilbao and his goal made him the youngest goal-scorer of the century in the competition. Yamal broke the previous record held by Juanmi Jiménez of Málaga in 2010 when he scored at the age of 16 years and 238 days. Even though Barcelona lost this game, but he broke yet another record showing his class.
