The AFC Asian Cup quarter-finals will commence on 2 February.
As the excitement of the AFC Asian Cup 2023 continues to grip football fans worldwide, the stage is set for the highly anticipated quarter-final matches. With thrilling encounters and surprising upsets already marking the tournament, anticipation is mounting as the eight remaining teams gear up to battle for a desirable spot in the semi-finals.
After an intense round of group-stage matches followed by the knockouts, Tajikistan, Jordan, Australia, South Korea, Qatar, Japan, Uzbekistan, and Iran have emerged as the final contenders fighting for glory in this prestigious tournament.
Japan, boasting four titles as the most successful team in the tournament’s history, continue to be an unbeaten force. Despite an initial upset to Iraq, Hajime Moriyasu’s side bounced back, securing a spot in the quarter-finals for the ninth consecutive time, with a commanding victory over Bahrain in the round of 16.
Meanwhile South Korea, who are considered another strong contender for the title, faced a tough battle against Saudi Arabia in the round of 16. The match proved to be a nail-biting affair, with South Korea pushed to their limits. Ultimately, they managed to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, securing their spot in the last-eight after a tense penalty shootout.

Format
- In case of a tie after 90 minutes of regular play, additional time will be allocated. This extra time consists of two periods, each lasting 15 minutes.
- If the score remains level even after the extra time, the match will be settled through a penalty shoot-out to determine the eventual winner.
