Hyderabad FC scored for the first time in the ISL since early December, 2023.

As Sunil Chhetri made his record 150th appearance in the ISL, Sivasakthi Narayanan decided to mark this historic day in the best possible way for his skipper. Bengaluru FC emerged victorious following a classic night at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium.

The Blues came into the match as clear favourites, thanks to their firepower on the pitch and Hyderabad FC’s never-ending list of problems. But, they were put to test by the young Nizams who possess a ‘never say die’ attitude.

Sunil Chhetri’s side began the game on the right foot and were piling up the pressure on Hyderabad FC from get go. The Nizams did very well to neutralize the danger from the Blues and kept on pushing themselves.

It was an evenly poised first half as both teams tried their luck with a few shots on target. In the second half, Hyderabad FC created a few good chances, but failed to implement the final touch. Finally in the 71st minute, Javi Hernandez opened the scoring in the most spectacular manner. After the Blues took the lead, Hyderabad FC started creating more chances and even hit the woodwork once before Ramhlunchhunga restored parity for his side and silenced the Kanteerava with probably his most important goal till date.

It seemed as if both teams would settle for a draw, but super-sub Sivasakthi had different plans to mark his captain’s special day. The young gun went all on his own and released a ferocious strike from his left foot that ended up kissing the bottom corner of the net. This goal was enough to give his side three valuable points.
