Recently, Dippendu Biswas of Mohun Bagan has emerged as a notable talent, showcasing exceptional performances within a short period of time. The defender has displayed remarkable composure in the backline, demonstrating an absence of nervousness.

Scouting Report

Career and Performances
Dippendu Biswas has been associated with Mohun Bagan for a considerable duration. He also featured for the club in the U-21 matches prior to joining the senior team. In the previous year’s RFDL, he appeared in five matches for the club and notably scored a goal against RF Young Champs.
He made his senior team debut on February 10, 2024 against Hyderabad FC and immediately garnered attention from football pundits with his performance. Despite initially playing as a substitute, his noteworthy display prompted coach Antonio Habas to include him in the starting XI for their subsequent match against FC Goa. He lived up to expectations and significantly contributed to his team’s 1-0 victory against the Gaurs.
At the time of writing this article, the defender, primarily deployed as a centre-back, has played three matches for his club in the 2023-24 Indian Super League.
Playing Style

Dippendu demonstrates a commendable passing accuracy, alongside proficiency in timely tackles and clearances. However, his recent appearances reveal a preference for clearances over ball possession, with an increasing focus on interceptions.
Although his dribbling skills are an area for improvement, his ball recovery per game is exceptional. He seldom loses possession and generally prevails in most of the duels in which he engages.
Future Potential

Undoubtedly, a player endowed with such talent, when nurtured appropriately, has the potential to become a significant asset to Indian football, not only at the club level but also for the national team. Under the guidance of coach Antonio Habas at Mohun Bagan, he is certain to gain valuable tactical insights that will enhance his game in the future.
Moreover, playing alongside defenders like Hector Yuste in the backline will offer him greater field knowledge when facing off against some of the best teams in the country.
With skills, potential and performance being essential components, the primary factor in a player’s profile is consistency, wherein many individuals struggle to maintain their position. If Dippendu Biswas continues to perform at his best, he might soon grab more attention which will propel him to the next level.
