The Spaniard also shared his thoughts on the new signings.

After emerging victorious in the 2024 Kalinga Super Cup at Kalinga Stadium on January 28, 2024 by defeating Odisha FC, East Bengal FC is preparing to progress further in the season. They will commence their ISL campaign this year with a match against their arch rivals Mohun Bagan Super Giant at the Salt Lake Stadium on February 3rd.

Although Mohun Bagan is currently positioned fifth in the points table, while East Bengal holds the eighth position, the latter will take to the field with enhanced confidence, drawing on their recent victory in the Super Cup.

Ahead of the match, coach Carles Cuadrat attended the press conference. Below are the excerpts.

Loss of concentration after winning something big

It is evident that following a significant victory, teams frequently experience a loss of focus and subsequent defeats in their upcoming matches.

Coach Carles Cuadrat also expressed his perspective on this matter, as he stated, “After a big win there, there is that moment that you can lose concentration, so we are working on that. It has already happened to my team before with Bengaluru FC. After the final of the Indian Super League 2019 I asked my players for the best performance to get to trophies in a season, but we lost the next match in the Super Cup and we get out of competition. But I also know that in a Boro Match I don’t have to ask for motivation from my players because they are already ready for the fight”

Playing with four foreigners

While in the Super Cup, teams played with six foreigners, in the ISL it is limited to four. This will result in different strategies for attack and different team combinations.

When a question was raised about the topic, East Bengal’s coach replied, “It was possible to play with six foreigners in the Super Cup, now it’s limited to four and it’s not a problem at all. We will play with those four foreigners on whom we have full confidence.”

“Everyone is fit, and they are mentally focused. So it’s not going to be easy to beat us”, he added

Transfer Window

East Bengal FC has enlisted the services of several new players to bolster their team for the remainder of the season. They are now aiming to enhance their performance and improve their standing in the ISL table through the contribution of these new acquisitions.

“I’m very happy with what we have been getting in that transfer window. We have got two foreigners who are going to give us different solutions to the game in the team. Also we have got two Indian players, whose service will be very helpful for us in the coming months”, Coach Carles Cuadrat while adding a statement regarding the new signings in the club.
