Mumbai City FC boss Petr Kratky wants his team to be focused for the upcoming ISL encounter.

Mumbai City FC are poised to clash with FC Goa at the Mumbai Football Arena, riding high on three consecutive victories and clean-sheets, netting five goals in the process. Meanwhile, FC Goa enter the match with three successive defeats, including a heartbreaking loss to Kerala Blasters

Mumbai City’s head coach, Petr Kratky, eyes this encounter as an opportunity to capitalise on FC Goa’s vulnerable state. With momentum, morale and fans on their side, Mumbai City aim to extend their winning streak while maintaining their defensive solidity. As the Islanders navigate their path for a victory against FC Goa, let’s take a look at what head coach Petr Kratky and forward Iker Guarrotxena had to say in the pre-match press conference:

Mood in the Camp

Mumbai City FC’s second-leg success in ISL 2023-24, with wins over East Bengal, Bengaluru, and Chennaiyin, has been thrilling. Head coach Petr Kratky described the camp is brimming with positivity and determination.

He said, “We feel very good about that. Very important three wins and again we have to just keep going. Just repeat, and keep the consistency, attitude and focus. We’ll see whether we can keep the focus for the next game (against FC Goa).”

Wary of FC Goa’s quality

In his debut as Mumbai City coach, Petr Kratky face the then table-toppers FC Goa, and managed to hold them off at the Fatorda stadium. Now, it seems the Islanders have the advantage in the upcoming encounter.

Despite odds favouring Mumbai City FC, the tactician urged caution, mindful of Goa’s potential to upset, He said, “FC Goa are a quality team. They had a good run for a reason. They have a good coach and quality players. We have to be aware about that. The season is long, there are ups and downs. They will be ready to change their odds now and we have to be prepared for it.”

Meeting his former employers

Iker Guarrotxena will be facing his former team come Wednesday. When asked what he thinks about the current FC Goa squad, the new Mumbai midfielder replied, “They are more dangerous now. They are a quality team and the players are also quality. They play well.”
