Hugo Boumous had been a part of Mohun Bagan since 2021.
With the second half of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2023–24 season already underway, Mohun Bagan have made a surprising move by deregistering their star midfielder, Hugo Boumous. The decision comes amidst swirling speculations and anticipation over the player’s future with the club, especially as the team is preparing for a pivotal encounter against Hyderabad FC later today at Kolkata’s iconic Salt Lake Stadium.
Despite the anticipation surrounding Boumous’s potential role in Mohun Bagan’s campaign this season, the club has opted to part ways with the player, signaling a significant shift in their strategic direction. With Boumous deregistered, the focus now falls upon the remaining squad members to rise to the occasion and deliver results in his absence.
In the wake of Boumous’ deregistration, Mohun Bagan have wasted no time in bolstering their team, making some strong additions. Ashique Kuruniyan and Joni Kauko have rejoined the squad ahead of their clash against the Nizams. Kauko has also been registered for the ISL.
