ISL 2023-24: Mumbai City vs Jamshedpur FC – Build-up

Mumbai City FC is gearing up for a crucial encounter against Jamshedpur FC in the second leg of the ISL 2023-24 season. Positioned at 4th place, Mumbai is trailing five points behind league leaders FC Goa. This matchup holds significance as Petr Kratky, Mumbai City’s head coach, is set to face Jamshedpur FC for the first time.

On the other side, Jamshedpur FC, under the guidance of new head coach Khalid Jamil, has undergone a notable transformation. Despite being at the 10th position with just 10 points, The Red Miners poses a challenge with their revamped approach. The clash becomes pivotal for Mumbai City FC to close the point gap and strengthen their position in the league.

Mumbai City FC’s initial half concluded on a high with a commanding 3-0 victory over Chennaiyin FC, only to face a setback in the Kalinga Super Cup semifinals against Odisha FC. Despite winter departures, including Greg Stewart, Rostyn Griffiths and El Khayati, the addition of Iker Guarrotxena on the deadline day injects new energy into Petr Kratky’s squad.

Khalid Jamil and his Jamshedpur FC squad face a daunting challenge with the formidable task of taking on Mumbai City FC. The recent draw against NorthEast United in the ISL 2023-24 second leg opener has intensified the pressure for Jamshedpur to secure a victory.

Iker Guarrotxena can make his debut for Mumbai City FC, while Alberto Nogueira can also participate for the very first time for the Islanders. Jorge Pereyra Diaz and Gurkirat Singh will not be available for the Islanders after receiving red cards against Odisha FC in the Kalinga Super Cup.

Jamshedpur FC, on the other hand, can field a fully healthy squad.
