Hyderabad FC boss Thangboi Singto also spoke about goalie Gurmeet Singh’s departure.

In the buildup to tomorrow’s face-off at the GMC Balayogi Stadium in Hyderabad, Hyderabad FC plays with NorthEast United FC. Still in pursuit of their inaugural victory this season, Hyderabad FC faces a resilient NorthEast United side with aspirations of securing a spot in the top 6. As the young players take the field, it becomes a battle between NorthEast United’s determination to climb the ranks and Hyderabad FC’s quest to reshape their season’s narrative.

Hyderabad FC’s Head Coach Thangboi Singto and midfielder Abhijith PA addressed the media earlier today. Let’s dive deep into their except.

A long break before the game

The limited break between matches was a challenging factor, but this break has provided Hyderabad FC with a valuable opportunity to regroup, strategize, and recover before facing NorthEast United FC.

Addressing the break they got, Singto highlighted that this break was important as it gave players some time to recover. “Most of our players have started and played six matches in February. We didn’t have much time to rest and this was taking a physical toll on the players but now the players have rested and prepared well. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get a good result from our last home game but we will try to win here and score three points,” asserted the Hyderabad FC boss.

Plans on utilizing the upcoming break

Following their clashes with NorthEast United and Chennai, Hyderabad FC will enjoy a break in the upcoming weeks. This break offers the team an opportunity to rest, recharge, and potentially fine-tune their strategies for the remaining matches in the Indian Super League.

Speaking about the team’s plans on utilizing the break, the tactician asserted that there may not be any shuffling among the players. Thangboi Singto said, “We will continue with almost the same players, a few of them are U-18 and this exposure would be good for them. It does not seem fair for us or the players to be asking for more time. Last season, these players were playing for the reserve team and now they are confident enough to perform better.”

On Gurmeet Singh signing for the Highlanders

In a notable transfer move, Gurmeet Singh, who served as the goalkeeper for Hyderabad FC, has officially signed with NorthEast United.

Speaking about Gurmeet Singh who signed for the Highlanders the boss said that he respects him and wishes him the best. “It’s a player’s choice ultimately, I don’t think there’s a need to beat around the bush about the Club’s situation. But things are improving and getting better for sure. We also have Laxmikant Kattimani who is an experienced goalkeeper in the team. So it’s the choice of the player but we respect Gurmeet’s decision and wish him the best,” Singto explained.

On facing NorthEast United

The previous showdown between NorthEast United FC and Hyderabad FC in the ISL concluded with both teams sharing the spoils in a draw. While NorthEast United has a balance of foreigners and Indian players Hyderabad FC are going to play with a very young team.

Speaking about facing NorthEast United Thangboi Singto comprehended that they are a good team to play against. “NorthEast United FC are a very organized team and have a good defence. They know when to counter. We have to play some attacking football. We have created chances but could not convert them. So it’s time for our strikers, attacking midfielders to step up. The last time we played them we drew against them, but both the teams have improved a lot after that. So, we will be focusing on grabbing as many points as we can from this game and the next,” he said.

Abhijith’s comments

Abhijith PA played his first match against Bengaluru FC at the Kanteerava Stadium. He asserted that the team’s main motive was to win as many matches as they could. “It was a very great feeling to be debuting against a strong team like Bengaluru. We were trying our best to win but the result was not in our favor. But we are continuing to work hard and not give up and we will try to win as many matches as we can in the upcoming weeks,” Abhijith stated.
