Mumbai City FC will surely try to go up in the ISL table.

Jamshedpur FC is set to host Mumbai City FC in their next Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24 fixture at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur on Friday, 8 March 2024. The reverse fixture saw the Men of Steel cause a huge upset and secure a 3-2 away with incredible performances from Jeremy Manzorro, Imran Khan.

Mumbai City FC wants to stay in the 2023-24 ISL League Winner’s Shield hunt by returning the favor and securing three points from Jamshedpur FC’s backyard. The league is on the business end and there is no room for error anymore as both clubs strive to achieve their seasonal objectives.

With a lot riding on the line for both Jamshedpur FC and Mumbai City FC, they will give their utmost to emerge as the victors. As the excitement builds ahead of the final fixture of game week 18 of the ISL 2023-24, here is what to watch out for:

Stakes

Jamshedpur FC are engrossed in an intense race for one of the playoff spots. The outfit has 20 points from 18 matches, trailing Bengaluru FC by one point in sixth. With the top five teams likely to enter the next stage of the ISL, there is a maddening rush between seven clubs including Jamshedpur FC for the sixth spot. A win will be of immense help in reaching the playoffs.

Mumbai City FC are in a direct race for the top spot with four other clubs who have a realistic chance to win the League Winner’s Shield. To keep up with the likes of Odisha FC, Mohun Bagan Super Giant, FC Goa, and Kerala Blasters FC in a multi-team battle for the top spot, the Islanders must return with the three points from a hostile stadium. With Odisha FC not winning this game week, Mumbai has the chance to take the lead of three points and gain the No.1 position in the standings.

Team News

Wungyanyg Muirang is likely to miss out for Jamshedpur FC due to an injury. Iker Guarrotxena is a major doubt after picking up a hamstring injury in the previous outing for the Islanders.

Jeremy Manzorro is not only the most impressive foreigner in the Jamshedpur FC lineup but he is one of the most impactful players this season in the ISL. The midfielder has constantly delivered when it has mattered the most. He has notched five goals this season out of which two were scored in the reverse fixture against the Islanders.

Vikram Partap Singh (Mumbai City FC)

Vikram Partap Singh, with four goals, is the highest-scoring Indian in the Mumbai City FC lineup. With Iker Guarrotxena likely to miss out in the upcoming contest, Singh will probably play as a false No.9 or in a wider role. The Men of Steel will be wary of the speed that the attacker possesses and the instruction from Khalid Jamil, the Head coach, will be to limit his influence during the game by not allowing him space to operate.
