Mumbai City FC began this ISL encounter on the right note and looked like the more dominant side. All their efforts were rewarded when they took an early lead. Ravi Kumar made a save from a shot from Bipin Singh, but the rebound fell to Chhangte who did not hesitate to score in an open goal post. Moments later, Bipin tested Ravi Kumar with a left-footed shot just before the drinks break.
Furthermore, Madih Talal showed his brilliant skills and launched a screamer to restore parity for his side. Punjab were just not done for the first half as Madih Talal created the side’s second goal which was put behind the keeper by Wilmar Jordan. Consequently, Punjab stunned Mumbai within a matter of a few minutes.
Mumbai City FC came out all guns blazing and were making attempts in quick succession to pile up the pressure on the home side. The Islanders finally equalized when Iker Guarrotxena found the back of the net following a defensive mishap from Punjab FC.
